So from about 2019 China outpaces in nominal new growth of robots the other four countries combined.

Colloidal , in Scientists create robots tinier than a grain of sand

There's surprisingly little information on the article.

So the company that can't build a fridge compressor that lasts more than 3 years expects me to believe they can build a robot that can take over the rest of my kitchen tasks?

The torso can tilt to adjust its height, enabling the robot to pick up objects from knee level and above.

So, no picking up toys, or anything else from the floor, then? Seems like a big limitation.

Also, it's LG, and their build quality is crap lately.

An interesting question in these deployment is how would one consider an attack from/by these robots. Clearly, destroying one could be an act of war, but of a much lower intensity than killing a human guard. We have yet to establish the "value" of those things.

This will be hilarious until it suddenly isn't.

Cool story

Avicenna , in Penn and Michigan Create World’s Smallest Programmable, Autonomous Robots

"Operating at the scale of many biological microorganisms, the robots could advance medicine..."

Probably won't be the first use case:

"When Miskin and Blaauw first met at a presentation hosted by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) five years ago..."

I don't have much hope that it will be used for the benefit of the average human but pretty cool tech otherwise.

The deployment follows China’s 2023 directive to build a national humanoid robotics innovation system by 2025.

Oh! So a grand success then! They just made it, but I'm sure the machines are ready and fully capable. Probably, they were just taking their time, putting the finishing touches on, so everything would go perfectly. I'm sure they could have deployed months ago, but since they had the extra time, they used it wisely.

I predict great things!

I can't be the only one that thought you could just set off a EMP near the robots and get by, right??

CookieOfFortune ,

Do EMP devices that are better than an equivalent explosive exist? Nukes can do some funky ionosphere stuff when detonated in the upper atmosphere, but how would you even generate an EMP on the ground?

Tollana1234567 ,

that is the only way to general powerful emp in one setting. i dont think currently there is anyway, like in many scifi shows seems to have the same type of generator.
