WHO WAS JUAN SEGUIN?

Juan Seguin was a prominent Tejano leader born in 1806 in San Antonio, Texas. He became both a soldier and statesman during the Texas Revolution. He supported the Texian struggle against Santa Anna’s rule.

During the siege of the Alamo, Seguin carried critical messages seeking reinforcements. After the Alamo fell, he organized Tejano fighters, protected civilians, and fought at the Battle of San Jacinto, helping secure Texas’ independence.

Following the Texas Revolution, Seguin served as a senator in the Republic of Texas. The Juan Seguin Society honors his legacy as a patriot who helped shape the foundation of a free Texas.
