I think I've found another issue. It looks like the balance value is stored in a small/signed integer, so it caps at $32,767. If you look at day 144 below, the net end of day amount should have grown to $32,793 but stops $26 lower at $32,767, then on day 145 it doesn't grow at all even though I fenced over $2k worth of goodies. Does that mean I've won the game?

Just a quick update to say it definitely looks like it's a back-end datatype rather than a front-end display of the value, since I had built up well over $32,767 between days 144 and 148 but the net value on day 148 has substracted from the specific starting point of $32,767 rather than a secretly higher number stored away anywhere.
