Every position that claims to be entry level inevitably sends me back an email that says “We received many qualified applicants and have decided to move ahead with another candidate whose work experience is a closer match for this particular role.”

The metaverse had a billion dollars pumped into it, and yet for all they money they spent they have literally no users to show for it. Likewise for NFTs, a few idiots got suckered into paying for monkey JPGs and are now left holding a bag that no one wants.

Bitcoin has been around for almost two decades now, and still has not achieved anything beyond being a means for speculators to try and fleece each other. If it hasn’t reached widespread mainstream adoption by now, it never will.

I strongly suspect Bluesky deliberately waited to roll out federation and intentionally made it significantly harder to self-host, so that they could say they’re paying lip service to federation while effectively having control over 99% of the network. I even suspect vanity URLs are a bit of misdirection to make people think the network is decentralized when it really isn’t.

Rerelease or not, is it that surprising that the thing that just launched has more people currently checking it out than the thing that launched three years ago? D4 had a higher peak at launch, and I would expect D2R to eventually drop off over time.

The function is not complicated, and the solution does not require brute force. In fact, it’s quite elegant in its simplicity.
