How is this stupid? Call it greedy or anti-consumer, but in the end it will increase Nintendo’s profits so it’s far from stupid from the company’s perspective. People buy consoles no matter how bad they are treated. Maybe you should call consumers stupid instead?

People acting as if they’re brave for voicing an “unpopular” opinion, when they’re actually with the vast majority on that platform…

Calling HN a privacy nightmare is pretty wild. But sure, let’s dilute the term even further until it loses all meaning. Websites that are truly privacy nightmares will be delighted.

He was not believing Trump’s words, you’re misinterpreting his post

I do, too, and I hope they increase their own search index to reduce the dependency on Google/Microsoft. I love the great search experience but I hate that I’m (indirectly) giving those companies my money.

We all do

You keep ignoring everyone who says that but I will still repeat it: it’s not Google that installs third-party (!) apps on your phone.
It is really common in the other hand for OEMs (Samsung, Sony, Xiaomi, …) to install additional apps to earn money through “partnerships”.

Yeah, their world view is incredibly negative, and they harbor so much hate based on things that seem to happen purely in their mind. Sadly, they don’t seem to truly engage with comments (other than criticizing the neighbor more), so I’m not sure we can do much.
Why? Just because two (or more) people work on creating a song doesn’t necessarily make it boring or lifeless. The song writer can put his emotions into the song and the singer adds his own interpretation and feelings into the performance.

Yeah, I wish for a “Blender” moment for GIMP. Big improvements to the UI/UX to bring more (non-tech) users and code modernization to bring in devs.

While Krita focusses on drawing, I found it basically just as good at photo editing as GIMP. So today I don’t use GIMP at all and do everything in Krita.

Noticed that as well, it’s absolutely ridiculous. But judging by the amount of serious replies most people don’t seem to care.

I tried a few apps initially but stayed with Boost once it was released. It’s just what I’m used to from Reddit.

We have passed the torch of a fascist dystopia to another country.

Only on Lemmy you get downvoted for saying you pay for a service you like…

Asked very plainly, it refuses to answer questions related to it, but it requires very little convincing to talk about it. Much softer censorship than most of the other available models.
It’s disheartening, really. I fully sympathize with the efforts of software freedom and independent media platforms, but it’s just so annoying how people with “my” world view are just like all other people as well – we believe what we want to believe and only question what goes against our beliefs.
I’m not saying I’m better, but I just hate it in general.
