I understand the concept. I’m saying that this way of working creates echo chambers.

Unfortunately, a lot of these safe spaces become echo chambers. People don’t want to have their views challenged or try to see things from other perspectives. Many attempts at constructive dissent as mentioned in this post are discouraged and are generally unwelcome.

You Should Know@lemmy.world•UO People is an accredited and tuition free college that offers full degrees and certificates
18·2 years agoUoPeople doesn’t charge for online college courses, course materials, or annual enrollment. Pay our minimal fees as you go, never upfront.
What are these minimal fees, and what are they for? I’m always skeptical of these online learning providers that imply they are free but don’t quite say as much.
I think the writers are using that kind of language to show the personality of that character. He doesn’t want to admit (or can’t see/believe) his girlfriend left him because he was a bad partner, and so explains it by saying she became a lesbian. By doing this he absolves himself of any blame, fault, or responsibility for the relationship failing.

Technology@lemmy.world•Amazon pinches sellers: Use our costly logistics services or pay extra feeEnglish
9·2 years agoA spokesperson told Bloomberg that the fee will “help cover the costs of running a separate infrastructure and measuring its effectiveness.” So a significant part of the fee is to pay for measuring it? What’s that phrase about the bureaucracy expanding to meet the needs of the expanding bureaucracy again…?

RetroGaming@lemmy.world•The best-selling video game of each year since 1993English
11·2 years agoThis is why Sony was making such a big deal about Call of Duty during the discussions about Microsoft acquiring Activision (owners of the Call of Duty franchise). Sony wanted reassurance that the Call of Duty games would still come out on the PlayStation consoles, and not be exclusive to Microsoft’s platforms (Xbox and Windows). When you see that Call of Duty has been the best selling game nearly every year recently, you can understand Sony’s plea.

This bot should see when a link has already been posted and not duplicate it. Similarly, some kind of automod should prevent the same article being posted twice.

2·3 years agoAs you’ve been very diligent reporting errors and suggesting changes to map data, have you ever considered contributing to OpenStreetMap? You might like helping by using the app Every Door on iOS, for example.

11·3 years agoIf they’re cross-posted they’ll show up only once (though not all apps support this feature yet). I cross-post when I know something is especially relevant to multiple communities. If I don’t then someone else will, either not cross-posting or using a different source, meaning it will definitely show up multiple times to people.

Bullet points:
- Avowed had a co-op focus early in development, now changed to a traditional Obsidian singleplayer RPG
- Avowed is Obsidian’s version of what a fantasy first-person RPG is
- Finding the right balance between taking things from Pillars of Eternity and yet creating a new game that is more approachable for a larger audience
- “With Avowed, wee focus on unique bespoke content, deep systems and incredible storytelling that’s focused on characters, societies and factions”
- “Avowed is the natural extension of all the things we care about as a studio, of all the things we are great at.”
- Obsidian showed Avowed to Microsoft as early as part of the acquisition process

I think we need to either redefine safe spaces, change people’s expectations of them, or get rid of them entirely.
