Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Best way to pirate WordPress pluginsEnglish
3·1 day agoi believe it would be trivial to look through, if you can obtain them in the first place.
That’s the key point. Most paid plugins you can download only after paying. And if you get your hands on a copy, that doesn’t mean you’ll get updates, too. And running old plugins can considerably harm the security of your installation.
But if you can get your hands on a fully functional demo, you usually can remove limits.

Apple@lemmy.world•Apple's new iPhone and iPad security feature limits cell networks from collecting precise location dataEnglish
1·7 days agoOkay, according to this somewhat recent paper, chapter VI, C., static “obstructions” (e.g. buildings) can be put into a model and «precise position estimates» can be calculated «even in obstructed line-of-sight scenarios». Emphasis on “estimates”. But it’s only talking about one obstruction, not multiple in a complex arrangement. But, of course, the more BTSes receive you, the better the prediction.

I’m pretty sure that only works in perfect conditions, i.e. outside, no obstacles or walls.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•How many containers are you all running?English
3·8 days ago
64 containers in total, 60 running - the remaining 4 are Watchtowers that I run manually whenever I feel like it (and have time to fix things if something should break).

8·14 days agoBut if they’re doing it half-assed as most services (send photo of passport, take a selfie), it won’t be a challenge for AI to generate random IDs and a matching avatar for photo/video verification. The only way this could work is if they’d verify your ID by reading the NFC chip inside the passport or ID card.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•How do I make the Wordpress media library be somewhere else?English
1·15 days agoA hacky solution would be to copy all images into a directory on the other server and sshfs-mount that to where WordPress expects it on the current server.

Technology@lemmy.zip•QWERTY Phones Are Really Trying to Make a Comeback This YearEnglish
2·20 days agoWhile I would have preferred the BlackBerry Classic style of keyboard because I think it looks cooler, I must admit I didn’t have any issues with the keys, their clickiness or finding them blindly. The keyboard types really awesome.
My main issue is the muscle memory from my BlackBerry days which had the Shift key at the bottom where the Clicks has the 123 key. But that’s getting better the more often I use the Clicks.
TerraMaster F4-423 and then replace the internal USB drive with a fresh one and install OpenMediaVault or TrueNas or whatever.

Technology@lemmy.zip•QWERTY Phones Are Really Trying to Make a Comeback This YearEnglish
7·21 days agoI’ve bought the Clicks keyboard for my iPhone 16 but was unhappy with it being a huge brick while in that case. And the effort to swap cases often keeps me from using it.
Looks like they’ve heard my prayers because they’re now releasing a MagSafe+Bluetooth slider keyboard - which also brings a small power boost. I hope this is going to be as good as it sounds.

Check out GL.iNet products. They’re all based on OpenWrt with a more beginner-friendly GUI on top. (LuCi can be installed via a few clicks.) And very affordable. Some can be flashed to vanilla OpenWrt as well.

14·1 month agoI did it for a while but my system was constantly busy and there was this controversy about the image cache and possible CSAM which then prompted me to switch to using the flagship instance. Haven’t tried any of the alternatives, though.
