Qwant or Ecosia.

Qwant or Ecosia.
And so would they I suppose. It crosses generations!

What? Why is that?

But then users use it anyway for some reason. Many people care so little.

Firefox offers a real alternative to chrome derivatives. I think it’s what we need to go for too.

Yeah that’s great but I really don’t want OLED on an ereader.

For cloud PaaS solutions, you are missing two of the most attractive offers in my opinion, namely Scaleway and Upcloud. They are not “direct to OpenStack” solutions which is not necessarily a disadvantage cause OpenStack isn’t that user friendly. But they seem fresh and offer plenty, with Scaleway doing lots of features and Upcloud being more flat, also regarding pricing.
I’m not that surprised. I believe it costs less on itself but there might be a surcharge for installation.

Nothing in this message indicates that is the case.

There absolutely are. And many pay out of their nose for crap they don’t need and is overpriced just because everyone is doing it.

All you said might be true. But still, ads work. So well even that we run millions of websites from their earnings. Don’t even start on shows and sports. It’s insane.

It’s over 9000 by now.

In theory it is a horrible idea. No port like this ever works out. An incremental approach has much higher chance of success but will take long.
It’s perhaps a communication problem, where the privacy settings should clearly state this. Or these settings shouldn’t be offered. But maybe this current structure is fine for most people?
Regardless, it’s how existing social media used to work. In that sense, federated social media can’t offer an alternative and that could be a problem for some.

The wording can be improved, I think “maximising profit” would fix it. Which is obviously what OP meant as we all understand it.
It’s truly a challenge when even your elevator is on the spectrum.
