I wouldn’t even say Burnham is particularly left wing; maybe against Farage but that’s not saying much.
Not that being left wing is inherently a vote loser. A lot of political popularity is down to personality, which Starmer doesn’t have but Burnham does (in comparison).

Yeah, I guess you could protest the general concept without mentioning Palestine Action, but as soon as it’s about Palestine Action, it would become illegal.
These people are protesting about the genocide, but also protesting against the proscribing of Palestine Action, and shining a spotlight on the draconian laws which means that the government can proscribe any organisation they don’t like, and arrest everyone who shows vague support for them.
They know they will get arrested doing this, but there’s no legal way of protesting the proscribing.

This is how it works in real Britain - you find a free space at the bar, and try to look at the barkeep until they ignore you and serve someone else who came after you. Then it’s a 50-50 chance whether they point at you and say “they were here before me”.

Fair enough, I wouldn’t disagree that it wasn’t the worstn’t way to word it.
I don’t disagree that it wasn’t a reasonable protest and those responsible should be prosecuted for the criminal damage etc… but to list them as a terrorist group because of one non-terrorising action is a tad ridiculous, counter-intuitive, and the optics for the government are terrible.

Such a rubbish fine. It probably barely covers the cost of cleanup of dead fish by the Environment Agency, and the cleanup of private properties which had actual shit floating into them.
Not only was it an illegal discharge of sewage, but in an area they had absolutely no permit to do so, so it shouldn’t have even been possible for sewage to discharge here. And it was directly into a public water supply, a Site of Special Scientific Interest and a beautiful National Park. They’ve clearly been extremely careless and/or nefarious when it comes to implementing the infrastructure.
The fine should have been at least ten times the amount.
