I really feel like this is an idea that needs to die. Plenty of abusive and hateful men seem to have no problems with getting the type of relationships they want; this just inadvertently promotes the idea that one needs to be a ‘nice guy’ in order to have a relationship. Not every guy who leans left succeeds in wooing a woman, and right wingers complaining about where the women are at are probably in circles with primarily left-leaning women and they need to go look in a church or country concert or something.

I remember people arguing that Linux having two main toolkits were holding it back back in 2000-2010 but then Microsoft invents a few billion UIs just for itself. Even the one big megacorp can’t be bothered to keep things consistent.

There are still hotels with ‘smoking’ rooms in I think South Carolina and Kentucky at least, you definitely want to make sure you have a non-smoking room or you’ll be inhaling musty old tobacco smells the entire night, something I had made the mistake of once.

All real nonstick cookware is Teflon or chemically related to it. I almost always use cast iron or carbon steel but they are not nonstick, you have to control heat and acidity for them to release well. You can even see in nonstick pans that liquids will tend to bead up and not spread out because of the surface, versus in any other pan you’ll only see water bead up when you hit certain temps. I can only achieve something like a French omelette in a nonstick pan, carbon steel has always been a disaster, because of that me and a lot of other people keep a nonstick around just for certain egg and crepe recipes.

I just flipped through the introduction of a GIMP book that the authors hoped 3.0 would be out so they could cover it but ultimately based the book on 2.6 due to delays. It’s copyright 2012, apparently something (didn’t) happen.

I was playing through Xenoblade Chronicles 1’s post-endgame trying to do all the quests and because I didn’t know to steal a certain item from a certain enemy I now have to defeat a Lvl 120 boss that is the most powerful in the game to get one form of ultimate weapon. Not feeling like getting something like that after the fact, time to call it done and move onto the expansion.

On my RTX 3080 laptop I get a significantly lower frame rate on my laptop screen (240hz) and 4k external monitor (144hz) when using Wayland. Wayland has come a long way but I’m still going to be using X11 for at least the near future.

I’m just glad that it exists at all. Google has Chrome tied down on Android because they feel they can.
