3·9 days agoA more charitable possibility: there could have been an honest four-year cycle of design explorations and presentations of options, revisions… none of which will never see the light of day thanks to internal politics, and the company just non-deciding on a safe option.

They’re insecure about it. I feel sad for them.
I don’t think they were using glue yet. You just use a plastic pry tool to get the case open.

2·15 days agoYou’re thinking of trademarks, which can get “diluted” or gnericized by allowing unauthorized use. There’s no parallel in copyright — copyright holders can enforce them a little, a lot or not at all without losing their rights.
