Looks like you have to go back to 1979 for it to be true

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•With all this talk about Ai not being profitable why aren't we using it in video games? I dont mean replacing developers I mean in NPCs in the game. I make them more realistic.
52·16 days agoI saw someone mod Skyrim to have Lydia do that, looked pretty promising. There’s also a series where AI Lara Croft is playing old tomb raider games with commentary in her voice and everything, though I heard it’s not 100% AI

22·16 days agoMarketing sucks, IE was forever tainted. Like now, even if Copilot ran entirely on solar power and cured cancer, solved all hardest math problems, somehow achieved world peace and solved hunger, etc, people would still hate it.

6·2 months agoThere doesn’t seem to be any rules at this point, why don’t they just pass a new bill that’s exactly the same and call it trumpcare, or hell just rename the current law?
This was just the question I wanted answered

1·4 months agoAh, I wonder how many times the senate had voted on issues that are “unrelated” to ending the shutdown. I suppose theoretically any issue could be working towards ending it to get senate into alignment.

21·4 months agoWhen this started popping up, I made an account that I don’t use for anything else but logging in, so for me there’s no change at all. Is there more privacy concerns or other spy shit that I’m not considering?
Edit: I guess now I’m forced to be online just to login? That kinda sucks, but I’m sure there’s more for everyone to be up in arms about it.

1·5 months agoI don’t understand why they even still exist, i thought with his cronies installed in every department, the files would’ve been shredded and burnt long ago. I guess someone somewhere is doing a good job keeping it safe from them.

I feel you on the last sentence though, my parents used to keep a bunch of these really old photos in an old shoe box. A lot of them got destroyed in a flood, but I spent one summer with a scanner and an old laptop restoring as many photos as I could. Wish I’d done it sooner.
You just reminded me of the arguments I had with people when the start menu changed. They really wanted to press start, go to all programs, look for software publisher folder, look for software name folder, look for software name, click. They swear it was more efficient than pinning it to the start menu, or pressing start and type the first couple of letters to find a program and start it.
I have been winderjng about this. Is it people censoring themselves or is there some widespread initiative to clean up language on the internet? Is it a side effect of YouTube demonetising any videos with a somewhat controversial topic?

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What would be an inexpensive and reliable way to set up a personal-use VPN tunnel?
6·6 months agoHmm, not sure if this will help, but I bought an Asus router a couple years ago and discovered last year it had this functionality built in. Really easy to setup on the router, installed openvpn client on phone and laptop and now I have access to my home network.
Works pretty flawlessly for me, but I should mention that Asus has had some security issues in the past, but they did release updates pretty quickly

Patient Gamers@sh.itjust.works•Mass Effect 1 is still my favourite sci-fi game of all time
16·6 months agoMy favorite game of all time is Star control 2, and this was the closest thing I could imagine to a modern version it.
They simplified some of the planetary resource gathering, ship upgrades and exploration, and I was hoping they would expand on that in the sequels. Unfortunately they did the exact opposite and simplified it even further.
That was animated so well

There’s a dude on YouTube that repairs old cameras, hour long videos that I try to pay attention to but always puts me in that state where I can feel myself falling asleep, and my eyes won’t stay open.
