The default banned instances list include lemmygrad and hexbear.
Pretty sane defaults, and the admins can change that after setting it up.
You can see it in app/cli.py inside the piefed git repo

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•CD Projekt Red has confirmed that it made a modder take down their Cyberpunk 2077 VR mod [VR Injection Framework: +100 games supported] because they were charging money for it [Patreon subscribers]English
11·17 days agoI agree with you, especially since allegedly this mod doesn’t contain copyrighted materials from the games. Compared to a source engine mod where your code is based on their SDK which is licensed to you under non commercial, I think it’s fair game here.
However I read that the VR mod in question was not in perpetuity and you had to be subscribed to download updates, which tarnishes a bit your point. But continued support may very well be worth a couple money every few months.

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•The sorry state of saving (mostly a rant)
21·18 days agoThe context is explicitly a game where the engine supports saving at any time exists and it is not available for the user.
I am well aware of the difficulty of implementing such features so respect is given where it’s due.

Steam Hardware@sopuli.xyz•The sorry state of saving (mostly a rant)
22·18 days agoIf the game has no manual save but random auto saves like the op’s first example, then all your points are moot as the game still needs to have the save feature working properly. It just doesn’t respect the user enough to let them save on their own terms
The pot is if you want to control the speed manually. The transistor if you want to control it from the pi (from the temperature for example).
If you want a potentiometer, there are two ways I think :
Have the potentiometer plugged to the pi ADC input, and in software regulate the pwm output to the transistor based on the signal coming from the pot.
Another way is to have the potentiometer in series with the fan and only control it from the pot. I’ve never built any circuit like this so there may be consideration to be put into the max current the pot can handle, but I guess for a small fan it could be okay.
In both cases you’ll need a 12v source. Either a 12v power supply, or a DC step up from 5v (from the 5v power supply (maybe the same as the pi), not from a pin on the raspberry as it can’t draw much current). In both cases, the grounds should be tied together so they all see the same voltage in reference to ground.I can help you further if you want, but don’t hesitate to ask a LLM for it as they can be quite good now for such circuits, and can in theory explain concepts you don’t yet understand.
You can use a transistor to pwm the 12v input to the fan. I used IRLZ44n to this effect since they work ok at logic level. There are better transistors but the principle is the same

There’s tons of documents, and it’s not the first time I’ve seen this claim, so I wonder if there are any specific documents that corroborates the claims
