Fan of breaking echo chambers by being devils advocate. Other than that, centrist. As in in USA I’d be considered left.

  • If that’s the trend of the franchise I sure won’t be touching any of the later ones.

Good news! It’s prolly not. In an interview I’ve read quite some time ago, creators said that they hit a silly problem of not having path of improving the game because everything works and…well, not much to add.

So instead they experiment slightly with each version, making small changes every time to create another “flavor” of Civ.

  • Never went with Win 11. Tried jump to Linux, played with it for a week I believe, quite recently. Tinkering aside (mostly due to learning so not so bad, last distro change I got it all up to where I wanted it within an hour after install, because I finally knew what I was doin xD) my main problem is that Linux doesn’t really use my specs well.

I have an older system and on Windows, I can punch above my league with running shit like Hogwarts Legacy or Fallout 76 on my i5-4460 and GTX 750, while on Mint, CachyOS and Nobara Fallout 76 struggled hard to run fluidly, liked to flicker and freeze, and Hogwarts Legacy couldn’t even get into menu. And I am not really willing to give up on these two for now.

But other than that I found that no matter the distro, shit just…works. The worst part I think was that drivers for my old GPU are shitty on linux, but if you have in hardware from the last decade, I’d say just try it. All apps and shit you need is mostly handled by package repositories (something like app stores) and if your software isn’t there, check it’s website, maybe they have .deb or .rpm packages which are pretty much Linux .exe files. Or a simple command to download it via terminal.

I have old Brother printer and even tho Linux community labels it papwerweight, Brother actually has full drivers for linux installed via copy-paste commands they give you on their website. With full instructions how to do it step by step. So really, if you didn’t try it yet, consider.

  • Was raisied with everything - media, people, history teachers - calling them Indians and I automatically look for context each time lol. With no context, native americans are the default for me, with people of India being called simply peopple of India xD

Doesn’t help my native language has another word for people of India than Indians. xD

  • On the other hand…the same private entity wouldn’t buy the means to produce renewable power if they didn’t want to power their AI center. So in the ends, nothing changes, and the power couldn’t be used for other purposes because it simply wouldn’t be generated.

However, as they did and are using it to promote themselves, they are influencing others to also adopt renewable energy policy in a way, no matter how small.

No, normally I am not that optimistic, but I am trying ^^"

Curious, because you see, I am not looking out of them If anything I am one of the people who tell others to chill and point out they’re minority. The same thing I even said in my comment above.

And curious double time because right now we have a huge amount of same-colored folk with similiar sounding language coming to this country and, that may shock you, they also face xenophobia. They also fall victims to few bad apples being used to paint all of them as lazy, ungrateful jerks.

Please avoid weird assumptions that do not stem from what someone said.

    “It’s all racism”

Okay, frick off. I’ve had problems with immigrants in my country and each and every time my problem is not with them as a whole, but with the ones that do not want to integrate with local culture. If you come to another country - to the home of another culture - do not spit the host in the face, simple as. Learn the language, respect the local traditions (not “commit to local traditions” - but respect them), integrate with community. Not sure how it is in USA, but most outrage I hear in EU is basically small part of immigrants causing trouble and giving fuel to xenohpobes. Both should get kicked IMO.

I am aware I am minority and that most of the folk actually are simply xenohpobic, but I get kinda pissed when people spit out such dumb takes like “It’s all X!”.

  • First of all, thanks for all the tips. I tried Sarek back on Nobara, didn’t seem to do much. Then I spent a bunch of hours installing Cachy instead, now on it, works faster than Nobara, nice. And Sarek is built into their proton version, so doubly nice.

Sadly, Hogwart is still no go for me. Probably will still reinstall Windows to finish Hogwarts legacy ( I really got into it :| ) and then we’ll see. But sure as hell I feel more prepared for my jump to linux now.

I also tried checking the power state with commands you gave me and they failed. With ls’sing drm I found out card was instead card1 (…why?), but I lack pstate. Had power_state, that show only one record with cat which was D0. Whatever it may be. :| Maybe some CachyOS thing? Not sure. Found also /sys/class/drm/card1/device/power directory with “control” file, but cat’ing that shown only one line auto. So I am out of ideas and too scared to try something weird with it xD

Updoot: Found out in nvidia app that I should have two performance settings, with one vastly higher. I can OC my card in this menu, but cannot change performance mode so kinda afraid. Found out about and installed gamemode, then hooked it up in Heroic Launcher. Hogwarts still isn’t talking, but seems to work better before crashing? So other games at least should work smoother.

What convenience does a digital wallet add that a card cannot do

Be part of phone. People don’t like cash cuz you have to lug it around. People are dropping cards for digi wallet because then they don’t have to lug card around.

isn’t a digital wallet way less safer given that mobile platforms are the least secure ?

No one outside of lemmy cares.
