I can only conclude from this that the US will soon be communist

There was a Pizza Hut like 45kms away from me that was getting like 4-5 star reviews and it turns out the old Greek franchise owner (for some reason) really cared about his Pizza Hut’s reputation and worked tirelessly on making it clean and enjoyable for families to dine in at (???) to the point where it was detrimentental to other Pizzas Hut. Like people in my area were checking out this mysterious 4.2/5 rated Pizza Hut 45km away instead of the one 2km away with a solid 3/5 rating.

My old housemate asked if I wanted to go on a 90km round trip to visit this Pizza Hut for lunch, and so I went to check it out and the old guy was cleaning windows after he served us. Shit that would be delegated to high schoolers at other fast food restauranrs. After he retired in 2018, the new owners ran it into the ground in less than a year and I think the building is a Guzman y Gomez today.

The only other Pizzas Hut I’ve seen that are busy with dine in are back home in China

pizza huts in china are cool, they’re like chain family restaurants with seafood pasta and steak, nice sit down areas. the market for cheap takeout american pizz is already saturated by domestic brands like the elephant one (champion?) so pizza hut pivoted another way i guess

i haven’t seen a pizza hut in the west in a long time, but in taiwan they (and dominos) are always hole-in-the-wall delivery places on like some shitty side street, while in the mainland pizza huts are on the first floor of shopping malls next to SStarbuchenwalds Coffee

anyway im-vegan so i don’t eat that garbage and stay away from foreign corporations

Just had a look, the nearest 3 Pizzas Hut to me do not have a dine in area. The old Greek guy’s Pizza Hut with the classic Pizza Hut roof in a standalone building truly was a critically endangered subspecies.

I wonder if he would have been more successful if opened any other form of restaurant, he seemed to genuinely derive pride from his Pizza Hut and it’s cleanliness and efficiency. I’ve definitely worked for dodgier restaurant owners with way more financial success.

If you told me 20 years ago that domino’s would defeat Pizza Hut, I would have ignored you and excitedly told you about the new Wii console that was releasing soon.

In the U.K. all the indie places tend to have the same look and taste. I’d say Dominos is a bit better, but nearly 20 quid for one large pizza is ridiculous. Plus all the other downsides.

I always find Domino’s to be vastly better than pizza hut here in AU. It’s a halfway acceptable pizza while pizza hut is a sloppy, barely-cooked mess. Which is the exact reverse of the situation ~25 years ago when I worked there, come to think of it, for the exact same reasons.

      • They are far better than pizza hut here. What pizzahut serves is not food and so bad here you won’t even believe it. It was somewhat decent in the past but it only has gotten progressively worse. They charge way more and have the worst ratings too. Meanwhile the local pizzerias have only gotten better and better over the years and it is the same for every American fast food chain here. American fast food chains were only popular here because they were very cheap and the taste was passable but they have neither of those now.

        Recipe for Domino’s pizza:

        • Order vegetable oil and desired toppings (canned) from Amazon

        • Cut the box it came in into a 12" circle

        • Soak the box in vegetable oil until soft

        • Add toppings

        • Bake until warmish

Only one in our area closed years ago. I mean it was in a awful location but still.

Cupons have always been the only reason we’ve gotten pizza hut, domino’s or papa John’s. Although stopped because even with them way too expensive and what used to be okay quality isn’t even that :(

A fresh little ceasers with stuffed crust hits pretty good. Got a little heft and squish to it.

Domino’s just tastes like burnt cardboard to me (I think they use a lot of fennel seeds or something which I don’t really love imo) and always makes my TUMMY hurt… the Chicken BBQ is acceptable enough in a pinch tho.

Domino’s, Pizza Hut, and Little Caesars are all guaranteed diarrhea for me. Every location, every time. If I can’t get that consistency internationally, I will be heartbroken.

Not really, 20 years ago there was a dominos in the 3 horse town in the mofle of nowhere mexico were I used to live, but as far as I know there is no poza hut yet.

Any way, the best yankee piza chain used to be round table pizza? With the fat guy advertising a pie with several different meat toppings.

    I mean, it’s a hair over 4%. They’re closing 250 of 6,000 US restaurants.

Or 250 of 19k global restaurants, so just over 1%.

Pizza Hut will end up being bought by an equity firm and being dismantled bit by bit while extracting maximum revenue from a crowd of Gen X/Xennials who think Pizza Hut is good pizza.
