Didn’t he die during filming of The Crow or something like that?

edit: Thought I was probably mistaken. Looked it up. Exactly this happened.

      A) Yes. A squib load got stuck in the barrel of a gun used for filming at some point, and then a blank pushed it out and it killed Brandon. It’s the armorer’s fault, he made the squib (they needed a shot of it being loaded so it had to look real) by pulling a bullet, dumping the powder, and re-seating the bullet on a fresh primer, he should have popped the primer, popped it out of the shell, picked out the primer cup with a 1/16th pin punch, and then reflattened the primer with (shit…iirc) a 5/32nd flat punch, then reseat that, then the bullet. Made one myself when someone argued “that’s impossible,” it’s still sitting 5ft behind me right now lol.

      B) Actually this has nothing to do with that, but are you by chance actually the real toynbee? Not the author, the tiles.

        A) Thank you for the information. I only had vague ideas of the situation.

        B) No, I had nothing to do with the tiles, though I once unexpectedly saw one while walking through Philadelphia. My name was actually inspired by the Marvel character The Toad, whose secret identity was Mortimer Toynbee. When the X-Men movie came out I was looking for a new username. I learned of the character’s existence from the movie, then of his real name from the novelization. I liked it and adopted it. I think that was before the tiles were around, but definitely before I heard of them.

        Sorry to disappoint!

edit: I am also not the author of anything other than a bunch of lemmy comments (and several of them are versions of the above story).

          A) No problem! I’m a nerd lol.

          B) Ah gotcha, makes sense. I knew it was the slimmest of chances ever lmao, no need for apologies! Cool you saw one irl though! Idk how long Marvel has had the character but the tiles have been around since the 1980s.

Ah, my mistake on the latter. The movie came out in 2001, IIRC, so definitely not beforehand. Like I said, though, for sure before I heard of them.
