Parenti was not only a very good academic communicator who could engage with what people at the forefront of various areas of study of history, political theory, and the humanities were putting out, but famously also a writer that could take the obscure knowledge available only to bourgeois academics and make it accessible to the masses. He was famous, too, for the incredibly detailed footnotes in his written work. If you think he’s a crank who was doing revisionist history, being dishonest about his sources, or otherwise not up to some intellectual standard, he was exceedingly good at handing us all the tools to find those mistakes. Can’t really say most bourgeois academics even do 1/10th of what Parenti did to make that level of intellectual work accessible to working class people.
