I’ve been using Tutamail for over a year now and I can definitely recommend it. It’s Germany based, the company works more like a coop, and they care a lot about fairness/equality/sustainability.

Technology@lemmy.world•China’s ‘artificial sun’ breaks nuclear fusion limit thought to be impossibleEnglish
1·2 months agoSocialism is a transition period between capitalism (and other modes of production that came before it) towards communism. Socialism even by Lenin’s and Marx’s words is a period riddled with contradictions. The state’s role is to work towards communism. China is applying marxism-leninism to its context and is doing amazing while at it. Strengthening the productive forces as to combat imperialism is the way to go and China knows it. China doesn’t need western ultra-lefts living at the tit of the empire to tell it what it has to do to ensure the survival of its sovereign state for the betterment of the working class’s material conditions.

2·2 months agoOf course they are led by a marxist-leninist vanguard party. Just because they are leading a state owned market economy in order to build up their productive forces so they can counteract the power of US hegemony/imperialism, doesn’t mean they aren’t doing socialist state building.

87·2 months agoYou don’t have to like the government, but they’re the sole reason China is slowly starting to take the lead in science and engineering. These are the fruits of marxism-leninism, whether you like it or not.
It also contributes to the climate catastrophe by providing copious amounts of oil. It also enjoys the fruits of the exploitation in the Global South, hence it can redistribute said fruits of imperialism to its people, which is indeed better than the US oligarchs hoarding it all, but not by a lot.

Technology@lemmy.world•China releases 'UBIOS' standard to replace UEFI — Huawei-backed BIOS firmware replacement charges China's domestic computing goalsEnglish
1·4 months agoI for one welcome this development. China, even if just out of national security interests, has proven to be quite a valuable partner in championing open source alternatives to Western technologies locked under key, proprietary licensing, and other such arrangements, which led to monopolies. China first started doing this with designing and actually building RISC-V architecture devices as a way to move away from x86 and ARM architectures. Now let’s hope that UBIOS will be supported in a similar, open source way, so that we can gain more sovereignty over our own devices.

I didn’t say any of that. I have no clue where you got that from
Gramsci talked about this long before the 24/7 news cycles even existed. This is what the bourgeois hegemony is. Hegemony isn’t defined only by the brute force of the state to enforce itself onto the people, but encompasses the ownership of cultural, political, and intellectual institutions too. The role of hegemony is to shape the views and values of the underlying classes as to make said values seem normal, organic, and timeless. This in turn will manufacture the consent the owning class needs in order to pursue its interests. As of now, the bourgeois hegemony has decided that Charlie Kirk needs to be brought on equal footing with other political activists. They have decided that the subordinate classes need to accept that Charlie Kirk’s very real and tangible political activism is nothing but “opinions” in “the marketplace of ideas” and the consequences he has suffered at the hands of the system he helped build are unexpected. This is why everyone from the democrats to the republicans, from the liberal media to the conservative media is suddenly calling out “political violence” and mourning Kirk publicly. The bourgeoisie is trying to instill a new Zeitgeist and the people calling it out are a thorn in their side.
The US has always been this parasitic, lawless, warmongering shithole of a country. Bush did it, Obama did it, Biden did it, Trump did it. Every single president before them did it. As someone who despises the US hegemony, I’m glad this administration is showing the world what the US has always been. This will just make it easier for us across the globe to discredit the US lackeys in our individual countries.

1·7 months agoSame issue here. My company is freezing any hiring this year. And next year won’t be looking good either. And to add on top of that, most big companies are outsourcing to Eastern Europe short-term because it’s cheaper, or directly to India, as was the case with Amazon Romania that laid off a bunch of its workforce and then hired back a few of them to make workshops for the people in India that are going to pick up their jobs to do the exact same thing.
Also the pay in the sector in Germany sucks ass. It’s really bad

3·7 months agoYes, of course the driver is at fault for being an idiot. And sadly, a shitton of drivers are idiots. Ignoring this fact is practically ignoring reality. You shouldn’t be allowed to do false marketing as a company exactly because idiots will fall for it.

Technology@lemmy.world•Tesla loses Autopilot wrongful death case in $329 million verdictEnglish
181·7 months agoWell, if only Tesla hadn’t invested tens of millions into marketing campaigns trying to paint autopilot as a fully self driving, autonomous system. Everyone knows that 9 out of 10 consumers don’t read the fine print, ever. They buy, and use shit off of vibes. False marketing can and does kill.
I understand. Thanks a lot for the info.
People just expect open source devs that do this shit in their free time with absolutely no compensation to bend over for them and do everything they please. The good thing about open source development is that you can just help with the development yourself.
People still don’t care. They’ll still open packaging related issues. And someone will still have to sift through those and close them individually.
