Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Linux gamers: Do you ever occasionally shut down your PC?English
125·10 days agoI always shut down my PC. No need to keep it wasting electricity (even a little) when I’m away and I can wait a bit for it to boot again

Linux@lemmy.ml•Why do people recommend cachyos as a beginner distro?English
3·12 days agoImo anyone who wants to learn doesn’t stay a beginner for long. Those people will find Arch/Endeavour naturally without prompting.
Real beginners are those who don’t want to learn anything beyond the basics and those are the people I mean when I talk about beginners.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Why do people recommend cachyos as a beginner distro?English
17·12 days agoI’d not recommend Endeavour. It’s just a preconfigured Arch, which is great if you want Arch but not great for users not used to dealing with Arch.

Technology@lemmy.world•Password managers are less secure than promisedEnglish
3·20 days agoInteresting paper and I agree with the researchers to consider full server compromise in scope for online password managers. Maybe I missed it, but I’d have liked a section on the response by vendors. Mistakes happen, but the response and actions taken are very important for (continued) trust in a vendor.

Linux@programming.dev•KDE Responds to FUD Over Alleged systemd MandateEnglish
356·21 days agoThe truth is nobody is building an alternative to a bunch of great API that systemd just gives you for free.
They didn’t even untangle the web of half-finished and abandoned XMPP clients

Sonarr and Radarr heavily rely on quality profiles you need to define, for examples see TrashGuides.
Your system probably needs less setup in comparison
