Below are links to explanations of how things work in regards to tanks, guns, ammunition and processes for using them.
There is a great deal of bad information out there on the internet, which is read, digested and re-used, perpetuating the mistakes and misunderstandings and adding to the body of material which is incorrect. Artificial Intelligence based search engines make things worse, as they are able to trawl all of this and provide credible sounding responses which are fundamentally based on rubbish. If you know no better, then it’s easy to think it’s right. So this is my attempt to swing the balance away from all the rubbish and to explain how things actually work.
Now having written what I have just written, I need to add a caveat, as follows.
As a general note, what follows in the various sections linked below is almost, but in some details not entirely true. The things which are not quite true are of relatively minor importance, which is why I pretend they are true. My intent here is to provide enough of an explanation that anyone can understand the important points and gain a better appreciation of the wider topic. I have tried to point these not quite true things out in the text. If you have a deep knowledge of the subject and think that I am wrong enough that it matters in these or other cases, then by all means add a comment or send me an email (through my “contact” page) to correct me.
