homeassistant@lemmy.world•Replacing Ring Doorbell w/ Reolink - How has HA - Reolink - Frigate worked out for you?English
1·4 months agoI have a few Reolink POE cameras(and poe doorbell) with an old mini pc running frigate, all on a battery backup so if the power goes for a bit the cameras and recording don’t. I also have a coral tpu installed in the mini pc.
All of my cameras are blocked at the firewall from leaving the network and they function fully, 100% local. When i plugged in the poe cable the cameras grabbed an ip address and you can interact with them through that.
As others have said there is also a home assistant integration for reolink that let’s you import and control the cameras from within home assistant as well as a frigate integration. I prefer having frigate on it’s own box so when i need to reboot home assistant my cameras are still recording.
Once it’s all set up you can have live video feed for each camera accessible within home assistant, on your dashboard if you like, as well as access to clips and continuous recordings depending on frigate configuration and storage capacity.

homeassistant@lemmy.world•Is it possible to block/shape mmwave?English
1·5 months agoAn option no doubt but there’s two reasons i’d not want to go that route unless necessary. First, i already have the device on hand and would like to find a solution to what i currently have. Two, i’d like to keep zone based motion if i’m able. Second of these can still be achieved by getting more sensors and blocking them into the zones i want but for one of my current sensors i’d have to buy three new ones.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Self hosted music server that remembers playlist location and song time stampEnglish
41·5 months agoI hope someone else knows a better way to do this because it would appear it is somewhat possible but not easy.
Subsonic servers, such as navidrome, offer the ability to “SyncPlayQueue” via api to specific players, but in the case of navidrome that does not included the web player or music assistant for home assistant (the later is an assumption as i was unable to find a setting to enable it).
For those who don’t care about home assistant they just need to find a player on the devices they want to transition music too and from that supports the feature.
For those who use home assistant and want to listen to music across devices you can transfer queue from within the music assistant player to a device added as a player or the app by picking “this device”. That only works if you’ve been playing music from your phone on a smart speaker, the music queue being played via web isn’t visible from the app and vice vera. It might be possible to set a web browser as a player to interact with but i imagine that would be a fragile setup at best.

5·5 months agoBased on some older results i’ve found jellyfin isn’t set up to save play location in songs but if you ran the music folder as audio books it will. Not sure what that’ll do in regards to meta data but it’s only half the problem. I’d just as soon give up the time stamp memory if i could get playlist save state.

8·5 months agoCredit where credit is do plexamp is the best option for what i want to achieve, I just hate having to authenticate through them and report the activity occurring between internal addresses.

12·5 months agoI opened my server via web browser and started playing music and when i opened the app on my phone it didn’t show anything as playing. Either there’s a plugin i need to install, a setting i need to change, or it’s not an option with jellyfin.
The joke is solid but if those are spoon tomatoes then next year you’re getting over ran by them. They’re self propagating and spread like a weed. Third summer in a row of not planting them and they still come back with a vengeance.
So I understand this correctly, you’re using Fossify Calendar as the phone app that accesses your self-hosted calendar?

Jellyfin: The Free Software Media System@lemmy.ml•JellyStat ip addressEnglish
2·5 months agoThis was the second half of the fix that I needed. I filled this box with the address that shows when external connections would authenticate or play, and set “forwardfor” at the proxy, then the information came through. Thank you for this.

Jellyfin: The Free Software Media System@lemmy.ml•JellyStat ip addressEnglish
1·5 months agoTurns out it was as simple as checking a box in my reverse proxy settings to enable “forwardfor” now to wait and see if the information actually gets passed through or if I have to do as NeryK suggests and enter the address in Jellyfin.

Patient Gamers@sh.itjust.works•Weekly Recommendations Thread: What are you playing this week?
3·6 months agoI’ve had this game for less than a week and I’ve Jack Sparrow’ed my way into an A class freighter and i found a planet with glow orbs laying on the ground by the dozen. So i’ve got this crazy freighter and millions in credits but hardly any raw resources to build or upgrade anything.
Matrix chat has bridges that let you link a number of chat services like sms, facebook messenger, instagram messenger, slack, and a lot more. It’s no trillian but it’s as close to a modern equivalent that I think you’ll get.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•NAS/Media Server Build RecommendationsEnglish
1·2 years agoMost of that will be budget based and long term goal oriented. Do you want a 4 bay nas with 10tb drives set up in raid 5 or do you think you’d want a two bay system with 5tb drives set up in mirror raid? Do you want to start cheap and get a second hand thinkcenter off ebay or do you want to buy a brand new NUC and put a 2tb M.2 and 16gb of ram in one slot so you can add the other 16gb later? Some nuc can take up to 64gb of ram and have two 2tb drives in them.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•NAS/Media Server Build RecommendationsEnglish
8·2 years agoTo play off what others are saying i think a mini pc and a stand alone nas may be the better route for you. It may seem counter intuitive to break it out into two devices but doing so will allow room for growth. If you buy a creeper bare bones mini pc and put more of your budget towards a nas and storage you could expand the mini pc without messing with your nas. You could keep the pi in the mix for a backup if your main pc is down or offload some services to it to balance performance.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Could someone explain how to set up a lemmy instance with ansible for an absolute beginnerEnglish
1·2 years agoIt’s a great software to run. I like to watch youtube tutorials that explain things step by step so i can understand what happens. If i find a good video i’ll see what other software that channel may have a tutorial on and if that software may interest me.

I picked up a steam deck just before the holidays and this was one of the first few games i played on it and across 4-5 weeks i put nearly 50 hours into it. It’s so fun/addicting i couldn’t put it down.
One of the best parts, for me, is under accessibility settings you can turn off damage and magic drain making you immortal wth endless magic in the combat side of things. As someone who isn’t the biggest rogue-like fan this was perfect. As couple stress free dives for resources and advancing the story then right back to my silly little farm for hours.
