This sort of fragmentation is the biggest thing I dislike about XMPP. Although Matrix kind of fucked it up also when they switched mobile to Element X

Conversations isn’t a Discord alternative though

The XMPP clients I’ve seen look unusable for large scale messaging, so between the two Matrix
Edit: Actually I need to look into Movin
AI advice is shit, but then I ask people for advice and quickly remember why I started using AI instead

Guess who else also needs to be “vandalized”

Imagine if the crypto GPU shit was actually AI all along. After all a Google employee got fired for saying they made a sentient AI a while back before the AI hype. Although there has been a lot of crypto shit happening too so probably both.

My Pixel 6 Pro is about to lose software support even though it functions perfectly fine, and GrapheneOS has the idiotic logic of “sending software updates for unsupported phones is bad security so it’s better to not send any software updates at all and make it even more unsupported”. Either way I can’t really afford a new one (and don’t really want to buy one anyways with Google’s recent Android fuckery) so I guess I’ll just stick with a phone with abandoned software for a while.

The supply chain for computing resources is extremely bottlenecked right now. Even with the high demand for open weight AI models the data centers hosting them aren’t able to get the computing resources they need and they keep running into rate limits even for paid users. Z.ai’s hosting quality has dropped which I suspect may be related. Even over the past few weeks this has gotten much worse with the release of Kimi K2.5 being competitive with closed US-based models and OpenCode becoming popular. Meanwhile we have corporations like OpenAI buying up half the world’s RAM fucking both other people and other corporations. So I’m not sure where this is going to end up, but the computer hardware market is going to really suck for a while.
They have to fast track the mandatory ID laws now because the Epstein files is rapidly making people realize what their true intentions are
A compiler doesn’t have to make the exact same output, nor does an LLM have to make differing outputs, and a compiler uses someone else’s code to transform your code into something else.

At least they use your data to make a model that’s open weight

Good, maybe people will stop using it and switch to an open-weight Chinese model

Then censor their identities. The reality is they’re trying to push the narrative that they didn’t abuse children, and if they released it that narrative would be completely crushed which would be far more devastating for the government than what’s happening right now.

If its viewable then it will be a lot more difficult for idiots to argue that the Epstein files is a hoax

And then they immediately got a surge of new users, well played Google

I’m okay with a few crawlers, but not what’s effectively a DDoS attack by AI companies who abuse my resources generating terabytes of traffic and crashing my server while costing me money. I use Anubis now, which sucks from an accessibility standpoint but I’m not dealing with their malicious traffic anymore.

Yes if it’s tunneled to your self-hosting setup. With CGNAT you have to use similar services if you want to self-host.

Stoat and Matrix do fine with that model.
Having checked a year ago and checking again now, their UX has barely improved and the GUI is still significantly worse than Discord. They need some sort of monetization strategy for funding and leadership that isn’t a shitshow so that they can make something that people will actually want to use.
Most normal people also use Discord on mobile though so that wouldn’t really work, and I’m not aware of a free XMPP server like matrix.org that exists
