See there it is again! Tone policing would imply you’re being limited in expression. You’re allowed to be an asshole if you want to, but getting upset at people’s responses to it is like being mad at them because you pissed your own pants. I got the 7 for $140 where the 8a was looking like $200 and that 60 bucks is a big difference. I’m not too worried about the security update issue, my current phone hasn’t gotten a security update since 2024 and I really only use it as a phone. I’m making the change because I’m tired of walking up with new bloatware added once a month and constantly fighting to get Google assistent for control of my settings.

Pixel 7. That was my original goal as it’s the newest that I can afford.

Morrowind, and to a greater part the elder scrolls is the primary inspiration for my meta canon. Every character in every game I play is actually controlled by an eldritch entity that can see all possible iterations of a reality. When I die, I get shunted back into the aether and re enter the timeline at an earlier point. That’s why, to the NPCs, I know every trap, map, and position of enemies. It’s not even the first time I’ve eaten an iteration of this timeline. Ultimately, at the conclusion of the game, after collecting all the relics, which are Meta-canoned as items that survive the death of a timeline, I slay every living entity in the plane. The combined metaphysical ripple caused by an enormous a historical event followed by the death of all sapient life fules the entities escape from this timeline and travel to a new potential destination.

To this day, the only game I can’t go back to play with this is far cry 5, which is the first game that managed to best my entity.

My head canon is that soultraping yourself like this binds the spell to your soul forever. That’s an actual part of the spell but most people don’t do it because you could end up like the dozens of characters I had to abandon because a permanent effect is actually a problem in a number of ways.

Waterwalking forever seems great until you need to swim to that section of cave for the quest.

I’m not too invested in the security side of things, it’s just the nice fat cherry on being able to genuinely own my next phone.

I do see that as being a big con for the security side of things. I’m not too worried about it personally, I’m moving too graphene to degoogle and security is just a plus. My current phone hasn’t gotten a security update in 2 years, if the potential of vulnerability is the only worry I’m still more invested in the longevity and control.

New to the graphene scene, why would it matter exactly? My understanding is that installing graphene takes the Google stuff off the phone the same way Linux takes the windows off the tower.

I imagine this might mean that you won’t be able to do it on phones made after '27 but wouldn’t existing graphene installations and non updated Google phones from before the cut still function the same?

Does Google have some sort of hardware kill switch I’m not privy to?
