  • Thank you for the correction. While the headline is technically correct, it’s misleading in that it connects the suing directly to the published article.

Republik’s managing director Katharina Hemmer said Palantir had wanted the magazine to publish a very lengthy counterstatement to each article. Republik believed the proposed statements did not fairly address or rebut the reporting, she said, adding that the magazine stands by its reporting.

While right of reply actions are a common tool in Switzerland, it is unusual for a large international company to file one against a local media organisation.

Yeah, to hell with Palantir and full support to the publication.

  • Yes, I feel the same way you do. I really don’t want to add to the download metrics. I’m making an exception this time. Some good journalists, for example Richard Chambers (Ireland), have downloaded it to test and debunk claims made by Musk about safeguards. I think their contribution was a net positive. So there are cases where it’s worth doing.

I did not need to open the app once. Just downloading it allowed me to complain to apple using the link above. I feel when it comes to a CSAM factory such as this (possibly even trained on CSAM material), and with EU headquarters in my country (Ireland), I have to report it so Apple cannot claim ignorance. Who knows, maybe a whistleblower will someday tell us how many reports there were. Unfortunately our leaders are not leading on this issue, so the social contract is broken and we should all (IMO) do much more than posting on social media. My personal discomfort is less important.

  • Both Russian assets, so it’s a fair comparison. He’s considered possibly the next PM by a few commentators I trust. If he isn’t, the current PM is still a genocide enabler. And the media landscape is worsening in the UK.

By all means have more dismantlists in the EU if you like, but it’s an obvious net negative in my view.

I would like new (or returning) members to provide genuine EU criticism that challwnges the hypocrisy and collusion regarding genocide, and calling out of the roll back of environmental standards. The general neoliberal mindset there makes me very uneasy. Russian assets aren’t going to help with any of that and neither will a neoliberal.
