Since I invariably wind up getting “name suits” types of comments, here’s the explanation behind it:

Around the turn of the millennium, I was trying to come up with a username to use on a particular site that had a shortish character count limit for usernames. My goal was something related to the fact that I would often be making my points in arguments with “holier-than-thou” types by taking what they were saying, and turning it on its head so the offensive stuff was directed back at them.

I also happened to learn shortly beforehand that many years ago “’ape” was somewhat commonly used as a verb to mean “imitate” or “copy.”

I’m sure you can figure the rest out.

Well, “cactor” sounds like coughing up a hairball on the first syllable, so sure.

“Actor cat” - is it really acting? I mean I get the idea of “method acting,” but c’mon!

I think most of us would have loved to stay 10 years old for as long as Bart has.

My favorite chapter & verse of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.

You know they tube feed patients in comas, right? The patient presumably didn’t give consent, and yet I’m pretty sure that’s legal. Doesn’t even have to be a “too much junk food” coma.

Yeah, sorry - NO. It’s basic threat assessment, nothing to do with ethics. Those who attack a child do so because they are weak bullies taking advantage of an easy target - which obviously requires a lack of decent ethics, but not attacking that child doesn’t mean the choice was made based upon ethics.

TL;DR: Correlation != Causation.

Yeah, that’s actually the closest for I’ve found for my needs, although I hate how the rename dialog obscures so much of the image - I’m dealing with documents, and often taking info from the image to use in the name I’m giving it.

I’m using its partner File Manager app to navigate to the directory, then when I click on an image I get a pop-up to select which app to open in (because I like options for different situations, I refuse to set defaults in Android), and select Fossify Gallery from there to work with it. It works okay, but it’s not as straightforward as it could be (and like I said, that rename dialog is absurdly large & obtrusive).

That is indeed a nice gallery app, but the lack of direct filesystem browsing prevents it from being useful for my particular needs. Thanks for the suggestion, though - I’m thinking of leaving it installed anyway. Will have to play with it some more.

This has been known for a long time, but nothing’s gonna change until they’ve totally wrecked everything of value. It’s the “if I can’t have it, nobody can” power trip.

Ten to one the soldiers who’ve died in this sham war were among the ones who rolled their eyes at this crap.

It’s only going to keep getting worse until it somehow blows up in some way huge enough to get the vast majority of morons to actually care enough to fight it. I unfortunately have little hope for that happening in my lifetime.

Yeah, they’re the only ones…

Well, nice to have validation of my feeling that what passes for “developers” nowadays are clueless idiots far more often than it used to be.

Anybody taking odds on how long it takes for there to be so much space debris in orbit that we’re in near-permanent darkness?

So, the goal is to become an APT? I don’t think enough like a hacker to be very good at this.

Too many lemons for a cat makes for one helluva sourpuss.

I’ll see myself out, thx.
