So, this is the place where I’m going to be generally hanging out and trolling around, while my Pixelfed, Mastodon, and Blacksky accounts are going to be primarily art posting accounts, and I also have a Nooki account.

I’m also going to start to be active more on here than on lemmy.org, so I’m making this my primary Lemmy account now.

I’ll link the other socials I’m varying levels of active on below, plus my lemmy.org account which I’m demoting to my secondary account if that instance is going to be more unstable from now on.

Sad to say, but YT’s quickly going down the tubes lately for anything with any kind of substance as slop content is promoted over anything actually good nowadays.

Are they going to check people’s PCs at the state borders as they move in then?

Goodbye tech ownership in Colorado if this passes. We’re moving one step closer to the government issuing out thin clients that only they control.

Hiding evidence, eh, MS? Because that’s what this hits me as given AI’s well-known penchant for mass plagiarism.

Good thing I killed my Pinterest a while back. I’ve just been using Binternet without an account any time I wanted to browse through Pinterest.

Same for using Redlib without an account when wanting to look through Reddit, or Invidious while being signed out of YT while both of those are still options.

How soon before Windows copies this, given they already tried this sorta lockdown with S Mode?

Also, couldn’t Ubuntu hypothetically lock down the Snap store like this?

Parental controls have been an effective way for decades. In combination with actually looking over your kids, of course.

I personally migrated to one of Blacksky’s public PDSes, namely cryptoanarchy.network, when the main bsky.social PDS introduced a deeply unpopular ToS change back in October of last year, but I’ve also been actively posting on Mastodon lately.

And I got no problem moving to Mastodon full-time if the entire ATproto platform ever goes south including for third-party or self-hosted PDSes.

I killed my Twitter months ago and have no plans of starting one back up.

Good luck with that on the Fediverse or on Matrix.

NileRed is more adult than T-C based on the type of stuff he messes with being super dangerous sometimes, though. Like, I wouldn’t want a kid messing around with things like manganese heptoxide or various strong acids or whatever that are super dangerous on their own with adults messing with them, let alone kids.

I still must warn that the guy messes with things that are definitely age-inappropriate for kids, though, see the aforementioned sulfuric acid.

Thrift shops, dedicated music stores if any still exist in your local area, and even niche online stores like Discogs, among other sellers.

Well, for starters you could start buying CDs again and then do your own FLAC rips from those.

I’d recommend NileRed and NileBlue, if only some of his vids didn’t involve things that would be seriously harmful for kids to mess with and that clearly are meant for adults learning chemistry to mess with, eg. like boiling or distilling sulfuric acid to purify it, which of course if hot sulfuric acid gets out of control, you got a massive disaster and easily severe skin burns, for example.

Otherwise, there should be plenty of science communicators which aren’t sellouts that are also age-appropriate for kids to be following along with.

How soon before x264 and x265 end up getting pulled and h.264 and h.265 support gets locked to Windows like is happening with HDMI 2.1 being blocked on Linux?

Some of those I wouldn’t exactly trust as they’re going to be mostly pushing agendas from the private equity firms that own them, eg. like Veritasium.

big fan of matrix here,‎ im not sure itll last but id be happy if it did. it might be a bit overwhelming for the matrix‎.org instance though. hopefully more servers will be popping up and people can move to them

Here’s the public server list for Matrix.

And here’s Unredacted’s server, which I’m currently on, and is one of the servers I would recommend over morg.
