“Instead.” Sane-wash harder, NYT, I dare you.
“I tried to ignore the traffic light, instead I got run over by a bus.”
You never hear the loud proud kind of Christian wonder if maybe God did send Trump – as a punishment.
I genuinely don’t know: What happens, Biblically speaking, to the people who hastened Judgement Day by worshiping the Anti-Christ? Is it something good?
“The only way to be sure your bull testicles are free-range organic whole food goodness is to raise the bulls yourself, which is why we’re procuring 1,000 male calves for 4H clubs around the nation” – RFK jr., probably
Maybe so-called Christians support the president because now we all get to be a little bit like Jesus: We can all die for his sins.
never heard of Amnezia
You said that before though
The EWG promoted vaccine/autism links at one point. I’m not suggesting that it’s worthless, but it’s not infallible.
This CNN article pretty much says that maybe if we love them enough, the president and the HHS secretary will save us from the machinations of the evil food empire, not by getting the FDA to function, but by “sweeping reform.”
We find ourselves in quite a pickle:
- We know we can’t really trust big business, meaning the food conglomerates, to put safety over profit
- We know we can’t trust the regime to do anything for the straightforward benefit of the public
- Can we trust CNN anymore? This article is trying to close the loop, joining leftist “but but but the CHEMICALS” food criticism with right-wing “Our youth should eat more bull testicles” food criticism
- Can we trust EWG? To what extent is science really directing them, to what extent is it fashion?
The truth becomes more expensive every day.
Vegas gambling is regulated by the state, but it’s still gambling.
The insiders make money because the “prediction market” odds don’t reflect reality.
How did the general public come to adopt the “prediction market” euphemism? It’s crypto gambling, right? Everyone knows that’s true, everyone understands that terminology. Aren’t we doing the casino’s work for them when we adopt their highfalutin’ marketing-speak? Making crypto gambling sound like a game for rich, educated people, rather than a grubby online casino that caters to insider cheating and tax evasion?
Look, it’s simple: He never got to play “blanket fort” as a kid, so this is only fair.
GPTurfing?
That annoys me as well. They call it “astroturfing” because it’s fake grassroots. I wonder if we should call this “cyberturfing.”
I don’t think the ownership of telecom was the important bit. It was the fact that, before 1996 or so, most PCs were not connected to the internet 100% of the time.
The security implications of pervasive, persistent internet connections meant software vendors had genuine security reasons to push frequent updates. That situation, with vendors pushing constant changes in the name of security, wound up offering vendors a lot of influence they didn’t have before.
This is exactly how, to choose just one familiar example, Microsoft is pushing users to have internet-validated Microsoft accounts, even to log in to their personal computers at home. “Want the security updates that come with Windows 11? You’ll have to let us watch you.” Which is just the way phones have been for longer.
I’ve only skimmed but:
provide an accessible interface at account setup
They don’t even define “account.” They have a definition of “account holder” that makes no sense.
Are all devices required to have user accounts? There was a time when home computers did not have such things.
Before the internet became de rigueur, more or less. So much of this kind of top-down-control culture has oozed into the PC world by showing up on phones – those always-on, internet-connected devices – first.
I’m safe because in my 95+ years on the internet, I’ve mostly typed lies that I made up on the spot
Columbia crushed their student protests to appease the federal government
Columbia caved to administration demands, changed their academic programs, to appease the federal government
As a reward, Columbia’s students will now be directly terrorized by the federal government
🎵 And Iran, Iran so far away-ay-ay 🎵
Isn’t this one just cropped?
