I've finished: The Folded Sky by Elizabeth Bear

The Folded Sky is a mix of found family and space adventure. Mixing an emphasis on escaping toxic relationships and building a nurturing family with the thrill of space battles, a murder mystery and discovery.

It is a standalone novel in the White space universe and the previous novels consist of a different mix of these two themes.

Great for those looking for more action in their slice of life novels.
