The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, by Douglas Adams

This book is pretty much review-proof; if you read and loved the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy you'll want to read it, and if not, you won't. I will say it would have been nice if the author had made the effort to give Trillian, the only female character until the end of the last chapter, any personality at all. #FinishedReading #Bookstodon #DouglasAdams @bookstodon

@RanaldClouston @bookstodon I'm not even sure he gave Arthur a personality (beyond the tea craving), and he's supposedly the hero.

@FesteringFerret @bookstodon sure, although at least Arthur acts as bewildered-at-everything straight man, which is arguably pretty important for the books.

@RanaldClouston @bookstodon Yes, and he does get to do more than just get dragged along, eventually. (The most recent "radio" play version of the third volume is the story that most made me want to write fanfic about Arthur.)
