Doesn’t the whole plant need to be re-tilled into the soil to actually fix nitrogen?
The entire plant contains nitrogen, so you can take the beans and till the rest back in and it should still be net positive, I think. I’m not a botanist.
Typically getting the fruit (beans) drains the soil, so for cover cropping you till all of it in before then.
So plant clover in between bean seasons.
Cover cropping between cover crops? Brilliant!
And if you also fertilise after each crop, you could get multiple rotations in as well!
