Is there a bubble of sewists that use vintage machines?

Spent the evening making a small cross body bag for my daughter (she's 1.5 years old) so she has something to put her pine cones. This took way longer than I thought it would or maybe way longer than it should have. I have so much respect for people who make bags.

Today's late night sewing session involved maing a sample baby romper. A friend of ours is expecting so we'd like to give her a few things. Using some scraps for the sample, but so far, really like how it's turned out. TBC tomorrow evening unless the toddler is teething too hard. @sewing

My friend was visiting us last week. She grew up in England but her parents always got stuff from Germany through friends. She says that this sort of pattern is very GERMAN and as soon as she saw it, she wanted a baby set for her godson. It'll be a Christmas present so it'll be a while until he gets it. @sewing

Last night's late sewing session. An autumn jacket from some sort of fleece (unknown - bought off the market) and jersey as inner lining. The blue cuffs clashes a bit with the whole thing - blaming it on my husband and also sewing when tired. Need to put the finishing touches but quite happy with it. @sewing @handarbeiten

Everything is a bit wonky and lopsided, but that's okay when you have only sight on one eye at the moment. Made a litte sketch an packed up some 1" hexies for a hexie swap - 1. time somebody asked me for this. 💚

Finished project! A "button-up" shirt (with metal pops instead of buttons).

And again a piece out of night blue Seersucker: This time, it is a dress for me. The pattern is the Southport Dress by True Bias which was easy and fun to sew.

@sewing A matching top and skort set. Feeling meh about them together but I like them separately.

I have to admit I am proud of myself. These tshirts are completly Self-Made (okay, the jersey is bought). I made the design in #Inkscape, transfered it to an embroidery file with #inkstitch, stitched it onto the fabric, put the vinyl into my cutting machine and sewed the shirts. @sewing @handarbeiten #mountains

Just finished an order for the summer sleeping sack for a (probably very wiggly) 6 month old baby. All made from muslin. The inner fabric was thrifted off #vinted. Loving the summer vibes.

Ein Hoch auf Nähmaschinen! Nichts spannend neues, aber praktisch.Einfach die Hose 2cm verlängern durch Auftrennen des Saums, einmal ausklappen und dann an die Nahtzugabe des Saums Saumband nähen. Von außen knapp neben dem ursprünglichen Bruch absteppen und länger ist die Hose.Im Softshell sind die Stiche der ursprünglichen Naht auch nach einer Wäsche noch zu sehen, ich habe auch bisher nicht gebügelt. Alles nicht tragisch bei einer Wanderhose, Hauptsache kein Hochwasser. #nähen@sewing

Made this chalk bag for #bouldering. I don't really use chalk all that much, but I wanted something to store my water bottle and phone in 🙈 Followed the instructions from here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9VXcxhBZAg but added a fleece lining, elastic for the brush holder, 10cm length on top to be able to fold it closed and a buckle to hold it closed. Admittedly, a traditional buckle would probably work better than this thing I salvaged from an old bicycle helmet, but I liked the look, so 🤷 The buckle doubles as a handle to carry everything about. Also added a hook to hang my bottle from, though I suspect that won't turn out to be very practical. Found a small amount of this nice yellow corduroy in a second hand store, which wasn't quite enough for the whole bag. So I made the bottom from an old inflatable mattress, which is some sturdy rubberized material. And an old fleece blanket for the lining. I tried a magnetic closing thing at first, but my magnet wasn't powerful enough to deal with the thick corduroy. So now it's a big press stud. Apparently I only added the cactus patch after lining the pocket with fleece, so that's a slight shame. But oh well. I'm all out of cute patches now, need to look for some new ones. #sewing #crafts #climbing #diy @sewing@a.gup.pe @sewing@lemmy.world

Upcycled the old crib sheets to make this amazing sleep romper for my daughter (the sleeping sack is too warm atm).

Not everything I make is new. We have this sleeping bag made of musselin that we got for the nursery but the cuffs on the legs were too tight. So I exchanged it for loose ones. @sewing

I went from squeezing into size 36 pants to now size 30 waist being too loose without a belt. #weightloss

I laser-cut a sewing ruler so I didn't have to buy one (and so it could be 60cm long)

Next up on my #sewing list is something simple, but with unforgiving material, so no mistakes allowed!

I made a t-shirt!

As of today, my #sewing room is *finally* setup and ready to go, but I have list of a couple home decor-type items that I need to make before I can get into making myself a new wardrobe.

Spent time this afternoon threading & setting up my straight stitch machine, finally. I’m not supposed to do anything physical while recovering from surgery, but I setup the foot pedal on my straight stitch machine anyways, since it was already attached and I knew it wouldn’t be too laborious.

I kept it super simple for the first project in my new #sewing room, especially since I’m supposed to be resting & taking it easy while I recover from (minor) surgery.

@sewing This is my first Fiske camisole from Cashmerette. It has a very supportive bralette built-in. It's very comfortable but I don't like assembly order.#sewing

@sewing It's pretty rare for a pattern to fit so well out of the envelope. This is the Briar from Megan Nielsen. I used the 16 Curve, rather than the 16 straight size. The only adjustment I think I need is a slight narrow shoulder adjustment. My next version will be a cheap graphic tee up cycle.#sewing

@sewing I think these drawstring dresses are going to be this summer's trendy design. I've seen similar on all the Etsy shops, but these two companies are well-known and well-reviewed. I like the v neck and raised center waist of the Ember, from Sew Liberated but that might go away with a full bust adjustment (FBA). On the other hand, the model for the Hayes dress has a similar shape to mine so it's easier to picture it on me but that neckline bothers me when wearing them.#sewing

Does someone have Elna Supermatic discs and would look if you have discs and take photos or flatbed scans of both sides of them?

I sew a small pillow case for my granny today :Dfirst time sewing a case and I had very limited time (since she wanted to leave and get some rest.. at the end we forgot to give her the pillow with her 🥴🥴😭🤣)I used old bed sheets for it :3

Playing DnD online with a lovely group and doing (like always) some stitching along the way. I love it, when it goes from mostly 2D to 3D within a few stitches. 🤩

A birthday present I got. I wanted a stencil for #sashiko. (I'm bad at drawing grids, especially on fabric.) This was what I got—the local sewing shop apparently recommended it. You use a hot needle to poke holes into the plastic, then I pinned it to my fabric and used a heat-erase pen to draw dots. I started out going row by row but then thought of a different strategy, as I'm connecting the dots with a ruler, anyway. Promising results, so far! Though the hot needle poking part was a bit tedious. #sewing #diy #visiblemending #embroidery @sewing@a.gup.pe

Somehow, I have to fit everything that was in my old #sewing room into a smaller space. I have a feeling that I’m going to have no choice but to part with my 6 ft × 4 ft cutting table and get something smaller. @sewing
