I can’t think of a better way to stop violent crime and corruption than to dissolve the organized criminal organization currently threatening American streets and homes. Banning ICE seems like a good first step.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Can you really earn money with ai like chatgpt, videos, images, etc? or should i not even bother?
4·10 days agoThere are two ways to make money, and both of them are fleeting: Creating new cutting edge AI services (EXPENSIVE) or consulting others who are asking the same questions you are (CHEAP, but requires the usual salesmanship and won’t be lucrative for long as others start to recognize these same truths).
If you create a capable LLM or other model that is more efficient, reliable and/or less expensive than others on the market, then maybe. But if you don’t already have the resources to do that (ie, if you plan to use an existing AI as a service), then no, you will simply be a consumer and not a producer.
That’s not to say you can’t find uses for it, but there’s nothing you can do with it that all the other users won’t be able to replicate without paying you.
Well yeah, but what if somebody else gets them too? /s
True enough, and I expected to get checked on that.
Regardless… along with the archives, assets and versioned duplicates, my old projects dating back to the 90s somehow now fill multiple TB of old hard drives that I continue to pack-rat away in my office. Useless and pointless to keep, but every piece was once a priority for someone.
Or one can prove that you are unable to get to that result yourself.
Oh shit… I’ve got terabytes of code I’ve written over the years that I’d be hard-pressed to even begin to understand today. The other day I discovered a folder full of old C++ libraries I wrote 20+ years ago, and I honestly don’t remember ever coding in C++.
Or about anything most Americans have enjoyed since 2008.
Say Hi to Weehawken for me.
I think we just did.

Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•The word "dude" first came into use in 1883. Fly, as an adjective in 1753. Here is a list of old slang words.
1·23 days agoI’m more amazed that “fly” (as in “fly girl” or “fly for a white guy”) dates back to 1753.
