NBA@lemmy.world•Inside the Ugly Split between Kuminga and the WarriorsEnglish
1·6 days agoMakes sense why the Warriors made the deal they did then. I knew the situation wasn’t great but this was worse than I thought.
It’s common to hear that the USSR got over extended supporting global communism too much but realistically they could have kept that up had they not had the economic problems they did.
China today has much better economic positioning than the USSR for a variety of reasons so I really think them not helping more is a huge mistake but part of it is that while they defensively an in their region they can likely match the US they can’t do that far from home right now.
I’m optimistic this could change as China is able to get to parity with the US on military power projection. I know they have plans for building nuclear powered aircraft carriers which is what they need realistically if they’re going to actually militarily intervene to help say Venezuela or Cuba due to their distance from China.
IMO the next 10 years are going to show if China is actually willing to take on the mantle of the leader of global commmunist movement like it needs to.
Yeah the tanking teams getting stars was a fun surprise, we’ll have to see how it works out next year.
Heard raptors aren’t gonna make CP3 report so we’ll see if he’s a buyout candidate. Not sure who takes him tho.
Yeah I feel like Vuc to the Celtics is bigger than it seems just since they had no one good to play center and have still been doing pretty well so far.
I don’t either lol I kept waiting to post it cause I was waiting for the rest of the details and that was just it.
I get Kuminga wanted out but there had to be something better and if not let him have a run the rest of the year then to improve his worth, think there was still a year left on his contract right?
Yeah I like their moves, feel like there doing what they can to sort out the future so it’s not as grim as it was looking
It 100% looks worse lol. Saw somewhere it means the Luka return was basically the same as JJJ but the Mavs got lucky (or given) with the pick that got Flagg.
Not too surprised Giannis stayed since the offers will be better in the summer.
JJJ and AD getting traded to where they did was definitely a surprise though. Also surprised Ja didn’t get moved but the market for him is the lowest it’s ever going to be so guess it makes sense to try and get more this summer.

NBA@lemmy.world•Sources: Clippers trading center Ivica Zubac to Pacers for Mathurin, Jackson and 2 1st round picksEnglish
2·12 days agoYeah that was a huge mistake by them, Zubac is a good replacement but they should have just paid Turner.
Yeah it’s basically going to be the 30th pick since OKC is probably leading the league and a late first depending on the year and warriors record.
Trae/AD is actually a decent combo especially in the East but the question as always is how many games is AD playing. Still pretty low risk with what they gave up.
Hearing it’s an OKC first and a protected Warriors first lol

3·14 days agoI don’t follow the blazers at all, has he come out in support of Pissrael ever or is this just from him being Jewish?
I think World gets the win if they’re mostly healthy.

NBA@lemmy.world•Cavs decide they can "fix her" and net Harden by giving up GarlandEnglish
4·14 days agoSeems like Cleveland no longer believes in this core and I heard they don’t believe Mitchell will re-sign so they’re trying to get a replacement guard.

NBA@lemmy.world•Bulls trade Nikola Vucevic to Celtics for Anfernee SimonsEnglish
2·14 days agoThis is probably one of their more logical moves I feel like.
Vucevic makes more sense on a contender and Celtics needed front court players.
Simmons has potential but has overlap with too much of what the Celtics have and it makes sense for the Bulls to see what he has.

NBA@lemmy.world•The Memphis Grizzlies are trading star forward Jaren Jackson Jr to JazzEnglish
1·14 days agoI don’t follow them closely but this one confused me as well. Guessing they’re going to try and mar playoffs next year with their current team?
Can’t really see them making anything more than the play ins with how tough the west is though.

NBA@lemmy.world•Giannis ready to get traded before trade deadlineEnglish
1·18 days agoYeah I feel like Jimmy deserves a ring after the crazy runs he willed those Miami teams to but looks like he’ll be up there with Barkley for best to never win one :/
Yea Steph/Giannis pairing is a dream pair lol

NBA@lemmy.world•Giannis ready to get traded before trade deadlineEnglish
2·19 days agoOnly team I’ve seen that has showed real interest (so not Spurs, OKC, rockets, etc.) and has enough to make the bucks pull the trigger now instead of offseason is the warriors.
They can trade butler 1:1 salary wise but if needed include Kuminga and some others if they want Turner too. They also have draft picks the bucks would want.
Timberwolves, Knicks, etc. don’t have enough to trade right now imo.

Same feeling, I don’t like him at all but felt like he some sort of send off was appropriate compared to whatever this was.
