True but all I’m saying is that first step is a band-aid on a hemorrhage.
Yes because that’s the main issue with ICE, not their unreasonable power and protection under a highly reactionary law

Reddit@lemmy.world•r/FuckingFascists moderator contends with the reality that their kink sub might be problematic
5·29 days agoWell that was… an interesting read. I really think the best course is for potentially dangerous and misinterpreted communities like this to be removed and barred from any majorly public platform like reddit. Make these sorts of things more underground and low key and you stop random morons from stumbling into it and it becoming normalized. I think it’s weird personally, but adults should be allowed to do this shit, it’s just how widespread and accessible it is that’s problematic. TLDR reddit and other social medias do not need a community for everything and these sorts of inherently abusive ideas are dangerous when promoted on public platforms.

politics @lemmy.world•The state attorneys general are as mad as you are | The Democratic state AGs think they’re the only officials standing up to Trump. They are probably right.
18·1 month agoThe other officials could at minimum signal help. All I’ve seen is attempts to tell the public not to react to their occupation and to just let it happen. Dems need to start treating this with the severity it deserves. It’s not like it’ll put a bigger target on them, either, Trumps already targeting Dems for the smallest thing. It’s more important that they signal strength and a willingness to protect their constituents, but apart from a few instances it has been very disappointing.

33·1 month agoThey are right, everyone else can talk the talk about how bad things are but there is zero action aside from a few instances of individuals actually using their position to resist and actually do any offense.
No it would definitely work, they just don’t want to because they’re all answering to the same powers (capital)

THE POLICE PROBLEM@lemmy.world•Sen. Murphy was just illegally denied entry to Dilley Detention Center, because they have something to hide. (Dilley, TX)English
1·1 month agoLocal authorities absolutely have jurisdiction in their own states what. The feds can’t come in an illegally occupy whatever they want, like this is clearly stated in the constitution. You seem to be assuming that these politicians aren’t doing anything because the law bit that’s not true, it’s because they’re weak and don’t care to stick their necks out. It might be harder to find a group of cops willing to go with you in Texas specifically, but this is happening in places like Minnesota where they should absolutely at minimum be forcing this into the courts because we see the feds lose every single fucking time. This I’d apologia for weakness, and this is only gonna dig us deeper as we sit back and accept that doing nothing is ok and a doing literally anything more than complaining and gesturing is too much to ask. We need to demand action, we see the inaction in Minnesota and its not like that stops the feds from opening BS investigations and probes into political enemies, even when they’re fully complicit. Demand more, people, stop enabling this weakness to rot our country away.

65·1 month agoPrivate security? Its the law. Bring the police and arrest them. Stop apologizing for weakness. They don’t need a posse, they’re a lawmaker. Jesus this complacency is why we have so much gesturing and saying how bad things are but nothing gets done. This is still just talk, doesnt matter until they enforce the law under their own fucking jurisdiction. Pussy shit, honestly.

5·1 month agoPopping my head in here to suggest you try winboat, as that resolves 99% of my issues when programs refuse to run under wine. I am ignorant to the specifics on producing software but If you have a crack you know for a fact works on windows Id give it a shot in winboat. Just use the vnc window provided in winboat to make sure it actually loads up and works properly before you try and integrate it with your DE. Good luck!
