A potential Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention facility, which sparked confusion and pushback from some residents, is no longer coming to Wilson County, according to U.S. Senator Marsha Blackburn.

On Tuesday, Sen. Blackburn announced that DHS confirmed the agency “will not move forward with the proposed ICE facility.”

Earlier this month, an ICE spokesperson confirmed to News 2 that ICE was indeed purchasing a facility in Lebanon to house detainees. According to the statement, the facility was expected to bring 7,216 jobs to the area and was projected to add more than $167.8 million in tax revenue.
