So, absolutely no difference in security compared to having a properly secured self-hosted VaultWarden instance. Gotcha.

How do you recommend people sync between devices? What about devices that, for security reasons, do not allow flash drives or any external device to be plugged in?
Often this is because neither streaming nor selling physical media is “worth it” for the parent company. Setting up even a simplified BD release takes tons of money because it’s not as simple as the copyright owner taking ready to use final renditions and burning it to a disk, there’s a whole process that goes into taking the masters and getting the highest possible quality digital copies off them, encoding appropriately for the disks, etc., and that’s not even mentioning the physical production of the disks, cases, booklets, etc., and getting a distribution deal with the right sellers and so on. What seems like a no brainer “you have a product, I want to buy that product, sell me that product” isn’t so simple after all.
Same goes for streaming albeit differently. The rights owner needs to create a streaming compatible release from the master (or sometimes even from the existing physical copy masters!), pay residuals after every playback, AND it has to bring new viewers to the platform for it to be profitable. Adding content just because existing users demand it - users who will 95-99% of the time will still stick with the platform even if they don’t get what they want - is not profitable, as it brings in no extra revenue.
Then there’s licensing. A lot of TV shows and movies are stuck in perpetual licensing hell because even though the trademark and franchise ownership lies with one company, long term rights usage has been sold to third parties as a way to have the IP generate revenue. Foe example, Paramount didn’t start their own streaming for years because all their IP has been sold for 5-7 year terms to e.g. Netflix. Why start a platform if you can literally not put your own product there? Or take HBO - since all Warner Brothers licensing was done in 10 year exclusive blocks with SkyTV, HBO (Go, Max, Plus, etc.) literally couldn’t enter the UK market because ALL the content was licensed out to another company who was promised exclusive rights within the UK for that time period…
I fully agree that going after piracy when you’re not willing to provide your content for legal procurement, is a bit hypocritical, and shouldn’t be a thing.

There isn’t one because half the population has been successfully misled to believe that anything even remotely left-wing is the devil itself and thus must be destroyed. Except when it directly benefits them of course.
The only borderline viable leftist thing of recent years is Jeremy Corbyn’s Your Party, which, even prior to official formation, has devolved into tankies trying to out-tankie each other while stifling any meaningful conversation and debate.

So, I’ve been sick for the past two weeks. Flu-like shit but it took me down like nothing else, even worse than the time I had COVID. For this period of time, since I’m very much NOT a mouth breather, I’ve been waking up 3 to 8 times a night feeling like I’m suffocating, because my nose gets so clogged up overnight.
I truly wish that Homan experience this ever single night until his death. To wake up every hour, and for long minutes sit there in the belief that this is the end, that he drew his last breath, to be afraid of even going to sleep…

The first season of practically any sci-fi made before 2010 is a bit of a chore - you have to sit through the writers’ attempts at worldbuilding, feeling out the mechanics of what works and what doesn’t, not to mention budget constraints, and so on. Usually by season two, things find their footings and the stories become more streamlined.
One notable exception to this would be Andromeda, which had a strong first season then went downhill with every next one thanks to Kevin Sorbo’s quest to make everything about himself.

Yep, as a bi guy, I can attest to the efficiency of gay hookup/sex life culture in general.
As a man, you’ll have two very different experiences if you go to a dedicated straight hookup app vs, say, Grindr or Sniffies.
With women, it is a whole process of ensuring that both of you are looking for the other, even if it’s a one night stand. Physical attraction, being charming, non-threatening, tons of requirements. At one point I missed my chance with a girl because she liked being read poetry to after a hookup, and I was apparently reading the wrong poets at the time.
With men? Even if you catfish them, 7-8 out of 10 will still have sex with you. You can literally post 10 year old pics, be 50-70kg heavier and still not a problem - meanwhile I had women call me out for using a roughly year and half old pic, and since I’ve lost weight and shaved off my beard, I looked slightly different…
With apps like Grindr you can quite literally find a sex partner in 5 to 10 minutes. Start a few chats, send the appropriate pictures, agree on a time and who’s bringing what, and you’re good to go.

True but we’re talking about dating apps meant for the general public, not a hookup/ONS/poly dating app.

Also let’s not forget, the US hasn’t won a single war since WW2 (and even that was due to them staying out of the conflict for like 2/3 of it, supplying both sides, then providing bare minimum support on the western theatre and proclaiming themselves winners after the Red Army took Berlin). At least not in the traditional sense of the word.
But since the US cannot be a loser they’ve redefined winning as “couldn’t actually achieve victory, pouted and stomped it’s feet, then withdrew and proclaimed itself a winner”.

At that quality of MP3 you’d really need either a track that specifically pushes the limits of the codec on technicalities, or a one in a million hearing + high precision monitors.
Albeit FLAC is generally a better option still because it compresses things losslessly, reducing raw file size 50-70% (comparable to MP3 at 128kbps bitrate) and is a royalty-free, meaning it can be freely implemented as a hardware codec.
For example, a bunch of microcontrollers in the ESP32 family have built in FLAC codecs that outperform their MP3 counterparts, meaning a FLAC library can be directly streamed to them, and with the right DAC combo, one can build inexpensive, low power adapters to hook their existing AV systems up to Sonos-style streaming. And with many AV systems supporting bidirectional RS232 (or other serial) communications for controlling the system and querying it’s state, you can literally smartify them completely AND provide high quality audio streams to them.

I disagree with porn having no place on the Fediverse. A lot of amateur creators started their work on sites like Reddit, and the platform becoming unviable will push them to alternatives like Lemmy.
However I do agree that there should be some gateways to get to that point. Filtering instances/subcommunities that are marked directly as all-NSFW is a good first step (and should’ve been part of the protocol from day 1).
I also see why the default “filter out all NSFW content” filter is problematic (even though it is enforced by app stores on every mobile platform, sadly). A much better approach is to filter subcommunities and instances that are marked as entirely NSFW. That way e.g. news subcommunities can still post NSFW articles that have a wider reach, without anyone’s primary feed getting slammed with porn and gore.

True, see my other comment about filtering.
Also, it’s Fabergé eggs. Fabrige must be the knock-off Chinese version.

Adult conversation equals not NSFW.
However I do agree that the available filtering is quite lacking. Tons of topics fall under NSFW, and disabling the filter brings the usual Russian Roulette of “will it be a titty or a beheaded guy or a 60yo bloke getting fisted?”.
I’ve actually brought this up before, the Fediverse in general needs more granular NSFW sub-categories. Like, I have (or now with lemmynsfw being down, I guess, I had) a separate account for porn only. I’ve disabled NSFW filtering, but that doesn’t mean I wanna see gore, rape, murder, animals being gutted, gruesome accident photos, cartel and ISIS execution videos and so on, I just don’t want titties blurred in my main feed.

There was a “Golden Age” period of dating apps (that actually coincided much with the same “golden age” of many other services including streaming), where making money wasn’t the goal, and the services actually served their official goal - pairing up people.
Problem is, any kind of dating app is self-detrimental for revenue, because if they serve that official goal, they’re essentially nixing their own customer base. Because what’s the point of a dating app? To find a person you can date, therefore you wouldn’t need a dating app anymore. If it works as advertised, users spend bare minimum time on the platform before achieving their goals and leaving it.
This simply means that a dating platform is only viable in three scenarios:
Most dating apps fall into the second category, and in fact if you do just a moment’s research you’ll notice that some 80-90% of the highest traffic (or most known) dating apps are under a single company. Yep, there’s a literal dating apps monopoly going on that snuffs out competition, or buys them up and shuts them down, and so on.
In fact… I’m a mobile app engineer, and I’ve actually ended up applying to a few dating app startups. The one common denominator between these was not that they wanted to do something new, or wanted to engage people differently than the rest… no. It was that all of these companies were specifically made with a niche idea in mind with the sole purpose of creating a minimum viable product that catches the interest of this dating monopoly and buys the company out. Yup. My job would’ve been “make our company sellable”. You can imagine how inspiring that is, especially when there’s no offer of equity on the table…

Wouldn’t the NSFW filter (which is enabled by default) take care of that?

If you read the post, it basically boils down to:
sadly it’s not uncommon for open source devs and maintainers to “disappear” from the community - a lot of these people do not share what they do with their friends and family, at least not the friends and family that could take over or even take steps in case of their passing. Accidents do happen, so do random events, so it’s perfectly possible for such an admin to pass due to some unforeseen reason, and have nobody within their immediate circles who even knew about their role in maintaining the instance.
Local print shop that deals with large/poster prints. They’ll usually be happy with a high enough resolution PNG, and can advise you on what’s the best way to print in the physical size you want - what material to print onto, what printing approach to use, what finish to do, how to frame it, etc.
