Lemmy.World Announcements@lemmy.world•Update on Jordan Lund | Update 2025-10-06 01:27 UTCEnglish
22·4 months agoThe admins gave me and others the decision. I didn’t ask for this.
As such, I decided to go with the least amount of headache, and have removed him from communities I am top moderator of. @[email protected] is free to re-apply, and I will gladly discuss this.
The admins decided this without actually discussing this with me. They merely reminded me that as top moderator I had the power to remove moderators beneath me. They never mentioned to me that I would be taking on the role of top moderator of other communities until I was made aware of this post and the update.
The admins on NUMEROUS occasions have had no issues stepping in and moderating on our behalf, without discussion. The fact they want to defer now is odd, as this is a first-time occurrence.
I just didn’t want to be the final decider of a bigger topic.
This may be the final straw that breaks this camel’s back. I’m not sure how much more BS I can deal with.

121·4 months agoNo. I was merely reminded that as top moderator, I could remove Jordan Lund. I said then, and still say that I had no reason to remove him.
The fact that their decision was basically “It’s on you, we’re done here” was unwelcome.

I gave you the exact quote. You DO realize that me posting a link wouldn’t be any different, right?
That’s because you can SEARCH the quote to get the source. I know, revolutionary idea.

As Jason Stanley said to define fascism at its core
Who is Jason Stanley?
Jason Stanley (born 1969) is the Bissell-Heyd Chair in American Studies in the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy at the University of Toronto, and also has an appointment in the Department of Philosophy. In addition to his position at the Munk School, he is a Distinguished Professor at the Kyiv School of Economics. Before coming to the University of Toronto in 2025, he held positions as a Professor of Philosophy at Yale University (2013-2025), Rutgers University (2004-2013), The University of Michigan (2000-4), and Cornell University (1995-2000). He accepted the appointment at the University of Toronto in 2025, fleeing the U.S. because of what he describes as the deteriorating political situation.
I’m guessing his bona fides are better than yours.

The Nazis were not the first fascists. Italy was. There’s been many since. Being fascists doesn’t mean being a Nazi. Being a Nazi DOES mean you are a fascist. Not all hot tubs are Jacuzzi, but all Jacuzzis are hot tubs.
It’s been said (paraphrasing) “Trying to define a fascist is like trying to nail jelly to a wall”. This is because there are many distinct forms of fascism, but they do share some similarities.
As Jason Stanley said to define fascism at its core:
A cult of the leader who promises national restoration in the face of humiliation brought on by supposed communists, Marxists and minorities and immigrants who are supposedly posing a threat to the character and the history of a nation … The leader proposes that only he can solve it and all of his political opponents are enemies or traitors.
Sound familiar?
Let’s break down that definition:
- A cult of the leader - MAGA, anybody?
- …who promises national restoration… - Literally what the letters in MAGA represent: “Make America Great Again”
- …in the face of humiliation brought on by supposed communists, Marxists and minorities and immigrants who are supposedly posing a threat to the character and the history of a nation … - His attack on China. His attack on the idea of anti fascism. His attack on immigrants and RAMP UP on ICE and use of the military in democrat-led states
- The leader proposes that only he can solve it and all of his political opponents are enemies or traitors. - This is literally his talking points every day.
I challenge you to prove otherwise.
This is why you were banned from politicalmemes.
Because there’s not one definitive definition, and proving without a doubt someone shares ideals is almost impossible, you want to point at a vague idea and say “see, there’s no way he’s fascist!”
Now, it’s time for me to be an adult and do my actual job. This is just volunteer work.

Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•All dating apps should require gender/sex verification I'm tired of obvious males under woman.English
1·5 months agoOP, please provide an example.
Most all dating sites ask for gender, and they include trans. Either you’re hitting some niche as fuck sites, or you have posted false information as an agenda.
If you do not provide examples, you will be banned for being transphobic.
