My boy Marx could never

Gonna FOMO two drives so if one of my RAID ones dies I can rebuild without spending $700.
This is very annoying in general because I strongly recommend that commies host their own infrastructure. Now this means I will tell small orgs “oh yeah just spend $2000” whereas before it would be maybe $800.

I think it’s a good idea to generally steer clear of anything that’s basically gambling, particularly gambling targeted at kids. Collectible-focused card games, gacha games, games focused on loot boxes.

Basically nobody can hear the difference between 320kbps mp3 and flac. Or 256kbps and 320kbps mp3.
I prefer flac because it works as an archive you can easily render from or use as a wav if needed. In theory repeated re-encodings could introduce artifacts down the line, I don’t have to think about that with flac. Plus the people releasing flacs tend to be nerds, they do good rips. It’s more likely that an audio quality issue will be something like ripping from a CD with scratches or a hole or ripping from dusty vinyl, only doing one pass, etc.

She does look familiar but I legit didn’t know she was from FF.

Have any Final Fantasy titles had any kind of social caché since FFXII? Like most nerds can recognize the characters? I don’t think that’s a dev cycle problem.

It’s monopoly capital throwing its weight around. In this case, dairy conglomerates.

As a hat, the fedora is supposed to be on you, not the other way around

Even the radiology analysis applications have been largely bullshit. They don’t actually outperform humans and most of it is due to using heavily biased datasets and poorly tuned black box models. At its base, a “modern” model doing this kind of thing is learning patterns. The pattern learned may not be the thing you’re actually trying to recognize. It may instead notice that, say, an image was taken with contrast and that statically increases the chance that the image will contain the issue of interest, as contrast imaging is done when other issues are already suspected. But it didn’t “see” the problem in the image, it learned the other thing, so now it thinks that most people getting contrast imaging have cancer or whatever

Machine learning etc could be great for medicine but the profit motive means that the best bullshitter will get these early contracts. The best bullshitter has an actual product and it looks great in demos but they cut corners so its fuckups are difficult to audit and were swept under the rug when the few engineers that understood the problem raised the issue.
With very carefully collected and annotated datasets and heuristic guard rails this stuff could actually be great. But those things are slow and expensive.

lmao they’re not even evenly distributed weights?

I’m confused about why they’re claiming responsibility for these things at all

Joyce is a materialist ultraliberal. She understands the mechanisms of capitalism and social change and explicitly sides with the dominant side (capital) out of self-interest and a kind of anti-left defeatism

They look cool when they’re on fire

MIT is absolutely chalk full of Epstein-style demons. Including literally Epstein when Chomsky was on campus.
The expression

Smallholding is already very practical in terms of production. You can just share expensive equipment or rent it. The reason it is less common is not due to issues with productive efficiency, it’s because capital can increase their mass of profits through consolidation. They buy up hundreds of farms, thousands. Farming is itself boom and bust, so all capitalists have to do is wait for the inevitable bust, usually one they cause.

Chomsky has been openly defending his association with Epstein for at least a couple years now.
Many games have substantial co-creative events or storytelling that works very differently as a game (in a good way) than it would using other narrative mediums. There is no question that this kind of expression, appreciation, and co-creatiin is just as much art as any other medium. Plus don’t forget, much of the critics raising the definition of art to incredible heights are undistinguished from those who think one piece of art is seminal and another crap entirely through old rich guy PR fights (which the industry and history try to avoid contending with too openly lest the sham be ubiquitously acknowledged). If a commissioned portrait to entertain some noble fuck is automatically art no matter how little the painter cared, intentionally turning out schlock, then a carefully crafted interactive experience intended to (and succeeding to) create joy, aesthetic pleasure, and engagement is at least at that level.
Also just like all other art, the big funded works follow the ruling class’ interests in one way or another and most is whatever they decided to buy, meaning it is frequently soulless - and through no fault of the artists. “I made a big-ass lollypop sculpture that’s now in the city center” has its correlary in Yet Another FPS and 30 Fortnite clones.
