2·1 day agoWell now that music is gonna be stuck in my head
I read “vampire ball” and imagined a snake ball but with vampires
Ok I play paladin because even in my fantasies I just want to be a hero who has the power to help people
I hate being the person that quietly judges people who clearly chose paladin type classes for the power rather than for the class fantasy, but I just can’t help it sometimes

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are some hugely important music albums?
2·3 days agoAll I remember from my brother listening to that album is the short track with the album title. “Come with us, we’ll sail the seas of cheese”

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Fuck Github, Microsoft has made it impossible to create an account without linking to hardware or phones
9·4 days agoI’ve wanted to for a while, but this post gave me the final nudge I needed to just buckle down and try selfhosting my own. Forgejo was incredibly easy to set up and my buddies and I are already successfully collaborating on a project that I’ve moved over from Github. So thanks for making your rant post, you made a difference

5·5 days agoI miss the days when I used to love technology and be excited about all the great things it could potentially do for society. Now I’m a luddite trying to stick to older and simpler stuff at most while I cynically point out all the awful ways technology will be used by the selfish and the powerful

3·5 days agoIt’s a great early 80s movie about Matt Broderick('s character) hacking into a “supercomputer” that’s programmed to simulate and potentially execute nuclear war, check it out if that seems up your alley

8·6 days agoIt’s cool how different people like different things. I think a lot of the appeal is the simulated escape from the dominant flavor of soulless daily corporate drudgery, to something that feels more grounded and community based. Of course it’s just a shallow simulation but escapism is a huge part of gaming in general.
There’s also the quaint pixel art and soundtrack and cozy vibes mixed with some not so cozy aspects like most of the characters having flaws and being imperfect.
My family makes fun of me (lightheartedly) when we play multiplayer because I pretty much just fish, forage, and chill. That’s my escape fantasy, I don’t need to be maximizing profits and getting the biggest house. That’s another nice thing about the game, you can play your own way at your own pace without setting off some lose condition.
All that said, of course not everyone will like the game. Humanity is awesome in its diversity, take it easy out there pard
