In Apple-land there’s bizarre quirks that are in the swipe-typing function too. Try swiping out “white woman” or “black woman” for example and it “corrects” it to the same incorrect phrase (“whites woman” or “black roman”) every time despite getting it right originally.
It’s a huge shame that (in my humble opinion) peak touchscreen typing was a decade ago when I used Windows Phone 8.1. It’s been a slow decline since that only became apparent in the past couple (maybe few) years to me.
It’s a Clicks keyboard case, got some long-timers in the mobile journalism space involved and looks pretty neat. I’d have gotten one but no model for my 13 mini personally but they support a number of iPhone and Android models. (minor caveat but USB-C iPhone’s have to toggle between data and power I believe - or something like that for the USB-C port built-in.)

7·9 months agoDON’T TURN ON DISPLAYING SECONDS IN THE TASKBAR BECAUSE THAT’LL USE MORE ENERGY!
The UPPP sucked more recovery-wise in my case, turns out I’m down 4 lbs after 1.5 weeks resting. The instructions said the throat pain would intensify over the first week but it didn’t seem to get much worse for me, just bad for a few days and then slowly got better. Whether it fixes up my snoring/sleep apnea remains to be seen. Hoping it does but we will see. This would have more impact on my SO’s sleep, but I do have a CPAP so I could make do with that.
the septum correction/turbinate reduction has made all the difference so far with not much pain, but I suspect I got lucky pain-wise. If I had to choose, it would be this one every day of the week.

politics @lemmy.world•Democrats Must Become the Workers’ Party Again
1·1 year agoSounds right, it’s just an all-or-nothing gambit or both you and the major party you align with would lose big.
You’ll have to appeal to the masses, get them willing to vote since voter turnout is not good, get awareness and enough energy to convince people to gamble on a vote for your third party since if each only get half of all voters on “their” side, the opposition wins. All while fighting the established party and all the funds, big names, etc. that empower it.
Heck, the US Democratic party has seemingly been willing to lose democracy than allow any progressive candidates to rise in the party.
thanks!
I’m still recovering from that (plus a UPPP) - the post-op instructions for the nasal operations spoke of potential splints and other packing to be dealt with at a post-op appointment but I didn’t have any of that and recovery was 1.5 weeks (just passed) of no exercise, bending over, lifting objects above 20ish lb and minimal sneezing, no blowing nose, plenty of rest but I was able to function after a weekend on my butt. (surgery friday AM)
Bloody and later clear drainage for the first couple/few days, nasal rinses (that Neil Med saline packets and bottle) for cleaning.
The UPPP was included for sleep apnea/snoring and recovery is longer, I was on a soft, lukewarm/cool/cold diet for several days and I’m mostly back to normal but no spicy foods and a hint of pain still.
The pain when swallowing from this one was the worst of it in the first several days - my nose seems to have gotten away without much pain or disruption at all since it was clear virtually all the time post op but the directions indicated it likely would be blocked. Hydrocodone was prescribed but I only used it a little bit and got by with tylenol (the infant kind because syrup instead of pill and it happened to be at Costco)
The tough part was remembering to stay hydrated. I found a wedge pillow helped with drainage.
I was more reluctant for the UPPP but insurance dictated it and not a lighter-touch procedure. no complications on any of them thus far but it’s too recent to call final results.
I said night and day difference especially laying down, but doc says as swelling goes away there’s more improvement to be had!

politics @lemmy.world•Democrats Must Become the Workers’ Party Again
7·1 year agofirst-past-the-post voting is the most common system in the States (and most prominent in presidential elections) which generally means additional parties rising to prominence will almost assuredly split the vote with the closest party so a new worker’s party will have to magically eclipse and obliterate the Democratic party overnight or they will both lose to the Republicans indefinitely.
I just got surgery to tackle my deviated septum in one nose and an enlarged turbinate in the other. Night and day difference!

1·1 year agoOh no, I don’t think it would be able to pull from iCloud directly, I believe there is an option to delete uploaded photos on the iOS device after uploading in the Nextcloud app but I don’t know if that is automatic or requires the user to acknowledge a prompt unfortunately.

When designed with larger batteries in mind, main cargo space intrusion is minimal if at all. We’re mostly removed from the days of big batteries eating up half your Fusion or Sonata PHEV’s trunk. (but not quite)
However, even though you’re missing some ICE components like an exhaust underneath, you’ll usually lose the space for a spare tire. Even though many new ICE vehicles today come without spares, there’s usually a place that one can be securely fitted. Not so in most PHEV and electric options unfortunately.
So if you’re hauling a body, probably good to toss in a spare on top.
