World News@lemmy.world•Plug-in hybrids use three times more fuel than manufacturers claim, analysis findsEnglish
15·5 days agoThis mirrors my experience with my 2017 Prius Prime. On the rare occasion when I activate gas mode (e.g., for long trips) it gets 50 mpg no problem. Otherwise it’s an electric car and the gas engine is completely shut down.
During COVID lockdowns, we were driving a lot less. We got a warning message that we needed to burn at least 5 gallons of gas each year to keep it from going stale. So we drove it exclusively in gas mode for a while, then went right back to not caring about gas prices at all.
They want US$7,000 for a chair and some monitor support arms? I want to try one, but not that much.

Occupied France as in WW2? This post specifically says 1980s. I’m fairly sure they had normal access to groceries during that time.

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Mozilla's "State of Mozilla 2025" is AI nonsenseEnglish
8·26 days agoThe problem is there’s only two browser engines: Chromium and Firefox. Literally everything else is just a skin on top of one or the other, usually Chromium.
Chromium is developed and controlled by Google, an increasingly evil megacorp. Firefox is developed by a company that is notionally independent, but gets nearly all of its funding from Google.
So if the Mozilla foundation is putting all of its development efforts into AI bullshit, then what’s the viable alternative?
The word “fluctuating” implies the price of gold has been going up and down. That is not what has happened since the Commander-In-Thief took office.

The word “everyone’s” is a possessive, and therefore needs an apostrophe.
