  • Because the article is badly written.

It’s confusing money spend on X must equal time spent on X.

The total amount of money spend on video games has gone done but more money is now being spent on things like crypto currency. This is being claimed that it means that people are spending more time on crypto since they are spending more money there. It ignores other issues such as who is spending on what (its countries as a whole, not amlunt on average per user), gaming is more expensive, more games are being made as a live service and are flopping (Highguard anyone?), retro gaming is getting bigger (doesn’t cost a fortune), etc…

  • It’s one of the things people complain about but in truth they don’t notice it. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33? Typically runs at 30 fps on Xbox/PS5. Baldur’s Gate 3? Again, typically plays 30 fps. Elden Ring? 40ish fps on PS5.

The first 2 were the games of the 2025, and yet no one seemed to get the info that they are most likely running at a “slide-show” 30 fps.

  • Except they don’t. Sure, if your comparing a $500 Windows laptop to a $2000 MacBook, then yes this is correct, but once you start comparing computers of the same price tag then it gets different. The parts on the Windows devices tend to be newer, faster, better screen/touch screen, and longer supported. Apple supports their computers for around 7 years before they can’t be updated, Windows on average 10 years. And yes, Windows computers do last 10+ years, everyone is complaining very loudly how their 10+ year old Win10 machine isnt getting updates anymore and cant install Win11.
