I saw an interview with Joe Mantegna (I think), talking about David Mamet’s dialogue. He said “Everybody always says that he writes the way people talk. Bullshit. People don’t talk in iambic pentameter. He writes the way people wish they could talk.”
Should be a foregone conclusion for anybody who knows the USMCC. Or the Geneva Convention. Or the history of the Nuremberg trials. Or has a modicum of human decency.

Torn on this one. One of my favorite things about being a Hawks fan is that the organization isn’t run by shitty people. Paul Allen seemed like a fairly cool guy. Jody Allen seems a little shakier. Not a huge fan of hers, but she’s probably better than anybody we’d sell the team to.
You basically have to be a billionaire to buy a team. Billionaires on the whole seem to be terrible people. You don’t make a billion dollars by being a good person. I’m not sure I could stomach rooting for a team owned by Elon Musk or some other shithead.

This is one he’ll of a storyline for the Hawks. Think about the last few weeks. Beat the Rams to take the lead in the division. Beat the Niners to clinch the #1 seed. Beat the shit out of the Niners again. Beat the Rams again to advance to the Superbowl. Four straight wins against our biggest rivals to get here.
And then it’s the Pats. Of course it’s the Pats. Beating them would complete the redemption arc. Vanquish all our demons.
I mean, they gotta figure out some way to blame the mom before Baron gets diagnosed.

I’m gonna say that he’s actually pretty good. He does the easy stuff perfectly pretty much every time. He does the hard stuff perfectly most of the time. He does the impossible stuff sometimes.
His problem is that he can get rattled. Especially when facing sustained pressure. Our O-line has been good enough to mostly avoid that.

Basically? It was a kids movie. Characters were one-dimensional and not very likeable to teenage me. Exposition by dialogue, and not great dialogue. Slapstick bits that really didn’t land (Jar Jar). Etc, etc.
I know that knocking on it is overdone, but Phantom Menace. I was 13 when it came out, huge Star Wars fan, absolutely target market. Walked out so sad and confused.
