Oh shit, I think this is the start of the longest plot in Calvin and Hobbes?
Certainly one of the plot points with the most long term effects as that box is the transmogrifier, the time travel something and the duplicator?

I agree! I try to keep in mind that however many ethical clothes etc I buy, all this fun is probably predicated on third world suffering but fuck me sideways, sometimes life is just good (even if I’m limping home because someone got too enthusiastic about bottom tier coed sports.)

This weekend looks great! Tomorrow, I’m gonna tey and recover from being dumb enough to be forty, go skiing and play soccer in the same day. Saturday, going to watch the local MLS team with a couple buddies. Sunday, going with a friend whom I don’t see enough to catch the women’s hockey team in their first game since the Olympics. In there, I hope to find time to throw some good friends’ toddler around. And ideally, somewhere in there, get high and play Songs of Conquest to scratch that heroes of might and magic II itch until it bleeds.

Who could possibly have foreseen the enlightened child being a jerk with the people that disagree with them?
It’s partly a result of their position being indefensible, of course.

My bad, I misunderstood your question and gave you too much credit.
Your question is “why weren’t the Dems a party for which I wanted to vote.”
And in reality, not all choices are ideal. When it came to the Presidential election, there were two options, vote Democrat or support trump by either voting Republican or abstaining.
Enough people chose the latter and so here we are.

Is it my fault what you wrote was completely unconnected to the comment?

You mean why they didn’t filibuster the one reconciliation bill on the senate which was literally the only chance they had to stop the administration?
Because the government does a lot of stuff, like say, feeding poor people, providing healthcare to seniors etc. And when the reconciliation bill came through, trump was still broadly popular.
So, what you’re asking is for the Democrats to hurt a lot of people until the Republicans simply changed the rules to remove that obstacle, which they have the power to do.
So, I guess the better question is, exactly how did you expect the Dems to stop these things? Be specific.

The point just wooshed right over your head eh?

This sounds like the NRA “yeah well people still kill each other with knives!” Like, yes, but the current technology has made the problem significantly worse.

I just asserting that people generally had more down time in the past.
By using total instead of share. Which also means there is even a more gigantic number of people with more wealth and leisure than any point in human history.
Do you see why using total number is mind numbingly silly?
I’m not sure about emissions per activity rankings but if you’re concerned about the emissions from a post, but surely that means someone watching a 4k movie on netflix is akin to a warcrime?

Are you trolling?
The number of people living happily in luxury unimaginable to 99% of people who have ever lived is also FAR greater than at any time in human history.

About .6% of the world is considered as living in modern slavery.
In say, the feudal era, that percentage would be some 70 or 80 times higher.
Maybe you should do some reading?

Is that an actual question?

“Are we going to negotiate these with your Supreme Court or…?”

Is that a Poilievre campaign slogan?!?

I imagine any number of slaves would disagree with you on the downtime.

Life back in the day was so much easier!
Just so dumb on so many counts.
Howdy! Hope you’re enjoying it!
Can I ask, how’d you find out about the fediverse? (I’m always so curious, almost none of my IRL pals have heard of it despite more than a few working in tech.)
