afaik servers are in USA
You mean one of the few countries not currently trying to dismantle encryption?

I agree, metadata collection and the obligatory matrix.org server are the biggest problems for privacy, but I don’t think you made that clear in your comment.

The only people who know this are people operating the server.
We all know this, for reasons I’ve already stated.
See the link I provided above.
Your link is broken.
Yup, that’s precisely what it’s a filter for.
100M people is not a filter…
Trust me bro is not a viable model
No one said anything about that? That is not the model.
The reality of the situation is that Signal asks users for information it has no business collecting
The business is connecting users. It’s one of the reasons it is the most viable private and secure chat platform. It’s why I have a dozen connections on Signal and literally 0 on every other platform. Because you actually know who’s using it. You can have the most private and secure messaging system in the world but if you can’t use it to actually chat with anyone, then what good is it?
Can it not be used that way?

What, are you talking about? “Information feed”? Where? By whom?

Remember when they arrested the creator of Telegram and forced him to hand over chat logs? Yeah, nothing to see here 🙈

Because of the implication…
The one thing that keeps me grounded is that the alternative infrastructure already exists. Lemmy, Mastodon, Matrix, which are federated and decentralized, no single server to seize or company to subpoena.
I’m afraid to tell you that won’t solve the problem. Matrix has already announced plans to roll out “age verification” on the matrix.org server. Lemmy and Mastodon servers won’t be exempted from these qualifications either.
There are also plans to roll out age verification in Apple and Google stores (probably why Google is rolling out developer verification in September).
And more plans to roll out OS-level verification, including Linux.

Google is not neutral, that doesn’t mean they invented the word or that the word itself is somehow inexplicably malicious.

As I said earlier, if I had said “downloading”, that wouldn’t have made any sense. Please read my comments before replying to them “bud”.

lower, higher, whatever, it’s manipulation of pointless numbers.

Can I ask you why Google has deliberately chosen to ALWAYS use the term
For the same reason I ALWAYS use it: Because it’s shorter than “installing apps from outside the Google Play Store”.
How do you think this came to be?
I literally just told you that in the comment you replied to.
Pretty much the entire industry is siding with Anthropic though.
