You should check out topgrade - it does all of those things as well. Not specifically for EndeavourOS, it can be used pretty much everywhere.
Its pretty handy, particularly if you have multiple machines to keep updated (it has a remote command too).

Collabora has also released a desktop version. I’ve been giving it a go and its UI is pretty nice, but its still fairly buggy at the moment. Keeping an eye on it for sure.

Well yea, sure. He just has a bone to pick with Linux. It was a pretty good MMO, so it would be cool to see it continue so its worth the gamble.

Im pretty sure you can, yea. But only if you disable the anticheat I believe - thats the part that breaks it.

If he buys it, he will break the Linux compatibility guaranteed.

“like sitting in front of a whopping 171-inch display from four meters away”

As they say, the last 20% of a project takes 80% of the time. Thats where all the boring stuff lives or the stuff that you’ve put off over and over again.
Get through it and you’ll be able to get back to the stuff you enjoy again.

Not a bad idea really. Though if there is a problem I can’t solve within the hour, I tend to dwell on it and work through it in my head until I can get back to it. Thought just going cold turkey (so to speak) for the holidays might be better this time around.

I think this year will be a lot less code at work, and more documentation etc for sure. So that might actually help keep me motivated with my own projects to keep on that coding mindset.

I’ve always liked some of the stuff that Kenney produces:
Might be some inspiration there

Battle for Wesnoth. Really fun turn based strategy game - https://www.wesnoth.org/
Its free and open source. They have it on steam now as well.

Not sure about this, but some apps do cause additional battery drain if something fails to work. For example, an app is pinging a hostname to determine if its online, if it succeeds it waits 5 minutes before doing it again, if it fails, it tries again in 30 seconds. A pretty rough example, but this is just to say that its entirely possible.

Most people with jobs can’t afford to just quit. Also the job market at the moment is insane.

Except they’re wasting tax payer money, which is shitty.
I hope at least it helps reduce pressure on kids that they need social media from their peers, it can be a pretty bad place to be (regardless of age really).
Thats about all the good from it, my fear is everything else that comes after. Mainly that they’ll force devices to be linked to a person, which means you’ll need a way to have approved devices that can access sites etc, which means you can only use a browser that has device attestation, which means no more free and open ecosystems of applications or operating systems (LineageOS, GrapheneOS, etc)…
Fuck all this.

Yea I wouldn’t be too concerned with trying just because you have an Nvidia GPU, I’ve been running it for years and haven’t had any show stoppers. Now is probably the best time to give it a go.

Accenture… There’s your answer. Absolute scumbag company. KPMG, DXC… All those massive companies run huge con jobs on any of those Government contracts. Wouldnt be surprised if they claimed they had 20 people working on it, but it was only 2 full timers.

I’ve noticed Zorin does a lot of marketing and it comes in waves, you won’t hear anything for months then it’ll be everywhere for a few days.

I think a lot of people are going to be disappointed in the price. From what I’ve read, and watched, its not going to be competitive like the Deck - it’ll be more expensive than the current consoles. I just have a feeling people are underestimating it this time around.

I really hope it won’t be a case of requiring a Steam Machine with SteamOS on there for this to work.
Sure, its not up to me to decide what you use. Was just a suggestion that others might find handy if they don’t want to write and maintain scripts.
