In the context of this communities, you are already here, just Google “fediverse replacement for xxx”. You won’t find a fediverse version of Amazon or any data storage service, those don’t really make sense for fediration. You’ll want to talk to other communities. Or search them. This has been talked about a lot.

Technology@lemmy.world•I Went All-In on AI. The MIT Study Is Right.English
20·3 months agoMy big fear with this stuff is security. It just seems so “easy”, without knowledgeable people, for AI to write a product that functions from a user perspective but is wide open to attack.

Technology@lemmy.world•In wake of Windows 10 retirement, over 780,000 Windows users skip Win 11 for Linux, says Zorin OS developers — distro hits unprecedented 1 million downloads in five weeksEnglish
1·3 months agoI’ve seen it off and on in random Lemmy and Reddit talks, along with some of the usual “best xyz” article search results, that you take with a grain of salt. Though in these days where even Lemmy has its boting I take dang near everything with a bit of salt. Lucky me that I’m a bit of a salt fiend.
Emphasis on it being conversations for true blue noobs haven’t dabbled and may not be very technical. To your point Mint and Ubuntu are right there next to it. By way of comparison I actually use Cachy and it’s not “hard” but I would not give it to my parents.

6·3 months agoOk, that explains the references. What’s up with the downvoting? I see the Nordic/Islandic connection, is artificial use of the character some kind of white supremacists viking dog whistle or something?

3·4 months agoI’m open to alternative thoughts here but I legitimately feel your emotion may be clouding your writing, because I’m honestly trying, but while I think I get the direction you are trying to take the conversation it’s not entirely coherent to me. For as much as you wrote it feels like a few incomplete thoughts strung together.

24·4 months agoA lot of the uptick is probably at least “blamed” on the need for infrastructure upgrades. These “benefit everyone” even though they are caused by basically one client, so the price increase to cover the upgrades is applied to everyone.

Technology@lemmy.world•Mathematics disproves Matrix theory, says reality isn’t simulationEnglish
7·4 months agoGoing to circle back around on uncomputible in “our” version of reality. I mean it’s kind of lazy in its way but it seems like the possibility that the “real” universe is a fundamentally different kind of place throws out most if not all methods for “proving” it’s not. I’m not even a fan of the matrix theory but still, to acknowledge it.

7·4 months agoOk, so as a less informed person let’s try to ignore the “gotcha” element of this and address it more directly. With your greater depth of background on her, what are your actual thoughts regarding her support for this person?

Yeah, if you’ve got the stinger case all packed up, is it really that big a deal to just toss it in the trunk? Maybe they spent the time traveling though, in which case I get it more.
