openSUSE Leap 16.0 is now available in STACKIT

Section titled “openSUSE Leap 16.0 is now available in STACKIT”

We are excited to announce that openSUSE Leap 16.0 is now officially available on our infrastructure. Built on the rock-solid foundation of SUSE Linux Enterprise 16, Leap 16.0 bridges enterprise-grade stability with modern open-source innovation.

By deploying this open-source environment on STACKIT’s 100% European infrastructure, you maintain complete digital sovereignty and data control within the EU, free from extraterritorial dependencies or vendor lock-in.

      • Enterprise Core: Built from the exact same source code as SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 16, offering perfect binary compatibility and an extended 24-month support life cycle.
      • Enhanced Security: Transitions to SELinux by default, aligning the distribution with strict enterprise hardening standards.
      • Optimized Hardware Baseline: Tailored for modern infrastructure, requiring a minimum of x86-64-v2 microarchitecture for better CPU-level performance.
      • Cockpit & Myrlyn Integration: Headless and server administration are now driven by Cockpit (the modern web console for system monitoring and configuration), while software management transitions to Myrlyn, a streamlined Qt front-end for the ZYpp engine.

openSUSE Leap 16.0 is available immediately on our platform.
