  • I’ve never cared for Xbox but at least it had a personality before Xbox One. An annoying, idiotic personality that I thoroughly disliked, but it had a personality nonetheless. It was the “fratbro” of the pack.

Ever since Xbox One though, the fratbro graduated and suddenly became the most bland and boring corporate guy you’ve ever heard of. And as every corporate guy nowadays, he now has caught the AI brain rot.

I don’t believe dull people actually exist, there are only people whose spark hasn’t been lit.

AI is snuffing out those sparks en masse, preventing many of our greatest future talent to ever exist in the first place.

This machine will kill us all, and it won’t even need to be smarter than us to do so…

  • It’s a machine made to steal your skills from you. Let the robot do your work and don’t worry about becoming competent yourself ! Prompting totally counts as a skill in itself !

I am also currently seeing several of my family members descend into the pit where they ask every question they have to chatGPT and immediately trust the answer… Haven’t been able to convince them that thing sometimes is utterly wrong and sometimes even lies !

It’s devouring resources and CS graduates that would be much better utilised pursuing something actually good and useful for the world.

My budget has been “don’t spend too much” for the last 10 years and it’s worked out wonderfully. You don’t need a clever laid out plan, you just need to ask yourself “how can I spend even less ?”

Cancel every subscription immediately unless you actually need it. Pirate everything. Get everything on sale or thrift it. Either buy the cheapest thing you can, or spend enough to buy the indestructible version you’ll keep for 15-20 years. Fix problems immediately for cheap before they get expensive.

As a result I’m still managing to save up money while my income is under 10K a year.
