I guess I have a kind of rule to only use software that is the main focus of the developing organisation. I’ve been burned to many times by Google to rely on any software product from them that appears to be a side interest. Same goes for Microsoft or anytime else, because this type of thing happens. My other role is to always look for a good open source alternative whenever possible which also (usually) avoids this type of “we got bored of supporting this” attitude.
